building an empire

Looking for a game like age of empire where you start out in the stoneage and work your way up to present civilisation 

but with better graphics and focused less on battle and more on building

    The Civilization series is awesome for that.

    There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

    I miss playing Age of Empires but stupid microsoft windows won't let it run on anything but my old XP which broke.  Age of Empires was NOT turn base tho.  Not much into turn based games like the above suggested.
