ArenaNet has published a compilation video for the Great MMO Migration contest. Players were invited to enter a video contest where they recite the Guild Wars 2 oath renouncing other MMOs. Check it out and let us know what you think!
Wait... So they were going to give away 5,000 copies of the game to "winners" and got 118 (minus five deleted, currently) entries?
Even considering how bad an idea the whole mess was in the first place, that's pretty pathetic. I would have expected more than that just from fans looking to get a free mule account.
I expected Anet to have a bit more respect for the genre. Bashing other games to get customers is a sign of desperation.
If in 1982 we played with the current mentality, we would have burned down all the pac man games since the red ghost was clearly OP. Instead we just got better at the game.

Maybe if they had a huge stick up their ass. I thought the video was funny.
I just don't understand how this can be considered news- unless it turns out to be some mass experiment into the cringe reflex while watching poorly realised ad campaigns on youtube.

Yeah, imagine that. People think different things are funny! For instance, I think it's hilarious that there's people who actually get offended by a cheesy marketing video for an MMORPG.

It is funny. It's lame as well, but it's funny.
Then again, I also find Oscar Wilde, Monty Python and George Carlin funny as well. How in the world can all this be so!!!!?!?!?
In any case the video was cute. I don't feel it came off mean spirited at all. A bit dorky maybe but all in good fun. If you can find the fun in it.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
To every single person whining and groaning (on and on). You're wondering why Anet did this, and how 'childish' it is. I won't argue you there, BUT... what century do you live in? Or have you been under a rock? Until next year, GW2 is the placeholder MMO that has BEEN THERE for people who wanted something to throw their time at. Believe me, when Wildstar, EQNext and TESO release, GW2 will get left in behind... don't worry. In the mean time, let them live up the successful fact that they at least created a game worth playing and investing time, until new releases.
This is a laugh to human intelect. Go hung urself arena moneymaker net with someone else. I dont wanna lost money on haircuts, new dance moves and other model shit.

That only shows how much game is popular... Ahahaha!
First it is not 5000. They gave 4000 free copies.
Second you don't even know what "selected" means but you have to say something stupid about the game and the company. They're some selected videos for the channel. They announced that all free copies are gone. Jealousy is really a bad thing...

Nah, Blizzard wouldn't have a oath renouncing subscription fees.
Anyway, why would I care what WoW does or does not?

Originally posted by rodingo All I see is a commercial. Should they have Mr T or Ozzy Osbourne doing their commercials and claiming they play the game instead?
At least hose where in good taste. I loved the Mr T's Night Elf MOHAWK!!! Which they added an ingame item for. I really enjoyed those commercials, at least the Mr T one unlike this one.
This "commercial" is very poor taste and an indirect bashing on sub games. This as bad taste as Rift's "You're not in Azeroth" poking of WoW.
One has to wonder, considering how there are 2 very prominate MMO's upcoming out that are P2P and WoW having an expansions... Yeah that's with my tinfoil hat on.

Tacky. But then again...
I guess there really is no such thing as bad publicity.

My heart broke in 2007, when they announced they weren't doing anything more for it. It was a great game.
