Trial period expired ...

Any chance they might offer extended trial periods to owners of the game whose trials have expired ?

Mine ran out and I was like level 3. Between other MMOs and life there was never enough time to get into FFIV. I presume there must be a whole raft of players like me, who did not take a subscription up, not because they are dismayed with the game (like we were with SWTOR when we discovered that it was a single player game sold as an MMO) but because they simply do not have the time to understand the game within the original trial period.

My suggestion would be to allow new players to level up to a certain level for free, so they get a real feel for the game before committing into subscriptions. Or maybe allow trial players X hours of gameplay, not just a calendar month (look at me, I only reached level 3 in one month, which means I played very little).

Nah, I think this just will open up more time for bots account to delete and remake chars to spam all day.

Surely there must be other, better ways to prevent bots and spammers than to kick out undecided but legitimate players?

If you werent engaged enough to level beyond 3 in a month, i dont think more time is gonna change that.

So let me get this straight

You had the game you joined the trial, you then went AFK to play OTHER games and now you want THE game to give you more free time

This sounds like the typical logic of the F2P is only way crowd, simple fact is its subscription based, if you can ONLY get to level 3 on the trial you must have simple logged in.

Hell level 3 is all of about 15-30 minutes of game play, if this is all you CBA to play in trial, then guess what buster... tuff.... put your hand in pocket if you desperate to play and buy a subscription, then if you only get to level 5 thats your choice and not at a cost to the us other subscribers

Why should they give you free until level xxx if you CBA to play the game in trial, and then goto sub why would getting to a 'static' level make any difference???

    Its not like its expensive

This post is all my opinion, but I welcome debate on anything i have put, however, personal slander / name calling belongs in game where of course you're welcome to call me names im often found lounging about in EvE online.
Use this code for 21days trial in eve online https://secure.eveonline.com/trial/?invc=d385aff2-794a-44a4-96f1-3967ccf6d720&action=buddy

    I don't understand...

You had 30 day's to try the game. You did have time to play other MMO's. Which to me means you're not that interest in FFXIV else you would have played that more instead of other MMO's? Just asking....

At first I thought the game has given a 3day trial, but seems you actually bought the game with a month of time to try the game.

You can not blame the game or it's company for something you should be able to deal with yourself.

Sorry, no... 30 days is more than enough time to decide if you like the game enough to subscribe. it was your decision to buy the game and then not play it for more than 20 minutes.

Good news is you can extend your trial another month for only $15 =D

There's a halfway decent chance that they'll add the standard 14 day free trial at some point, but never seen this added on to an existing account so you'll need a new account for it(if it gets implimented that is).  Now and again some companies give away a bit of free time for various reasons but not something you should rely on.

It kinda shows you never were that interested in the game. It's subscription, deal with it.

Companies should not cater to you because you can't be bothered to play the free time given in the beginning.

Maybe stick to F2P and leave sub games alone then...

Jump to more conclusions lol. It seems reasonable to allow people to play the game to 20 or something. He's not asking for the game to be F2P. Such hostility for such a simple post. I hope you're not such a miserable person IRL.

I will echo what the others have said.

In 30 days you basically created a character and did the tutorial. All of about 30 minutes worth of play in 30 days.

IMO save your money and move on, you were not interested enough to put in over 30 minutes in a month what would another level or 2 matter.

Pretty much, though sadly free trials would give them less subscriptions in the end because it's easier for players to figure out how shallow the gameplay is and maybe catch wind that the game has zero endgame.

lol Now who's jumping to conclusions. Miserable? I'm perfectly calm and happy today. How are you? I'm just pointing out the obvious.

The 30 day free trial has been a staple of Mmo games for years. I'm sorry if I find the premise of the topic flawed and lacking in common sense, but 'Buyer beware!' is the rule of thumb for anything you purchase.

Miserable indeed, lol.  Nice try though, made my day.  image

I like how you guys are continually telling the OP he wasn't interested in the game. I wish I had the power to know someone's intentions via the internet. I mean, he couldn't have possibly just gotten a bit busy and let time slip away? Nah, it must be something more nefarious. Something sinister is at work here! HE JUST DOESN'T WANT TO PLAY THE GAME AND IS POSTING TO TROLL! Congratulations Detective, you have solved the case.

I understand that you got busy and did other things, but that is hardly something SE should be compensating for.  When you bought the game and logged in you knew you were beginning your 30 day trial.  You should have delayed starting the game a bit if you knew you were short on time...or if you by chance you didn't know you would be so busy...well, that's life, chalk it up to life experience put down the $12.99 for another month and put some time in to decide if the game really is for you.  We've all been there at some point or another.
