Aion: Steel Cavalry Announced

NCSoft has announced the latest Aion expansion, Steel Cavalry. The expansion will bring the final new class into the game. Called the Aethertech class, these new playable characters will be able to summon powerful war machines to take into battle.

Joining Aion’s multitude of dungeons are The Illuminary Obelisk and Iron Wall Warfront, two new instances to challenge and reward players. 

The Illuminary Obelisk

Built to protect Katalam from an outside attack, The Illuminary Obelisk is a point of strategic interest. The Obelisk houses a shielding device that has been sabotaged by Beritra's 43rd Destruction Unit. Daevas must bolster their forces and advance on the Obelisk to regain control of its defensive power if they hope to repair the shielding unit and turn the tides of war in their favor.

Iron Wall Warfront

Governor Pashid held a slim victory over the Eternal Bastion, but had suffered heavy losses from previous battles. Elyos and Asmodian spies discovered that Pashid's forces had dwindled to the point of weakness, and that now is the opportune moment to press their advantage. A new Warfront has erupted to claim the Eternal Bastion!

    Didn't they announce this like... six months ago or something?

    Free to play = content updates for the cash shop. Buy to play = content updates for the cash shop.
    Subscription = Actual content updates!

    I don't play Aion, but this is definitely a unique class for an mmo.  I wonder if it'll be OP?  Anyways, happy for anyone who plays Aion.  Hopefully, this is a good and fun update for you guys/gals.

    It looks positively ridiculous and unnecessarily over the top in my opinion.

    Then again, Aion's creators started adding all kinds of lore-jarring skins and other miscellanies into Atreia long ago.

    Yeah, i'll have to admit it got sillier and sillier. I had such high hopes for this game when it was announced but that was a long time ago, before I really got to see how mmo's were or were going.

    Well at least now we know the majority of who these people are that support these games when they get outrageous in cash shop and p2w and no one wants to play them. *Cough*Gundam Geeks*Cough*

    I don't play Aion, but explain to me how it is such a crime to add ridiculous crap to a..um..oh, right a fantasy game. I mean I don't recall this mmo ever stating or passing it off as some very strict and contained fantasy game.

    If you knew the lore of Aion it makes complete sense. The mech suits are powered by aether (that stuff you gather floating around in the sky), hence the name "Aethertech". Same with aether cannons and such that are already in the game.
