I don't think Roma-Victor is live yet.  I was listing live games.

If I were to like a MMO from that era, I would go for Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising http://www.godsandheroes.com.  image It isn't live either.  image

    They both have their benefits.

My list of 'non fantasy' mmo's worth trying:

    EVE
    AO
    Ryzom
    PlanetSide
    WWII Online
    MxO
    Darkspace
    Jumpgate
SWG (who knows... maybe you'll like it if you haven't played the original SWG)
    Neocron
Tribes 2 (not an MMO but still fun)

Oddly enough every one of those, except Tribes, can be found by clicking that nifty "GAME LIST" button and sorting by genre.

Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.
    Sig image Pending
    Still in: A couple Betas

    I'll add to that with:

    Vendetta Online
Second Life (I don't like it, but it's non fantasy)
    There (See Second Life)
    City of Heroes/Villains

Undercover 2: Merc Wars is actually really fun, if you have a cell phone that will run it and like to shoot people.

    Nice list.

I am playing all of those except Darkspace right now.  I can't believe I forgot EVE! grrr....

Tribes 2?  Really?  How are the servers now?  I remember being so disappointed there weren't more people playing when I tried a while back.

ye it be cool if they made world of starcraft if you will....... cause it would be so oposite of midevil games. but like some one said .. they need to concentrate on wow .. and they got more then enough players and stuff.

World of Warcraft is not medevil game. It more of a final fantasy setting with both magic, swords and technology.

I think there only two top mmorpgs that really focus on medevil setting. They are DAoC and EverQuest. EDIT: oops i should add Lineage 2 but I never played that game. I think the top game in korea ( RF online) is Sci Fi game and here its WoW. It shows that people enjoy the mixture like all final fantasy games.

I really enjoy Tribes 2 (still) and the great gaming gods that be have made it free also, check out fileplanet.com for more info. The servers are plentiful enough I think, and shouldn't be to hard to find some people to frag. ::::01::

I'm really hoping Frontier 1859 makes it off the ground eventually, it's been years and still not much to look at. A western based MMOG would be a welcomed change in the ever so saturated market right now.

Everyone saying the fantasy genre is overpopulated, does anyone think the sci-fi is gonna be overpopulated soon? We've already had the first casualty; Earth and Beyond. And it's only a matter of time until there are as many sci-fi MMO's as there will be fantasy.

    Anyone agree?

anarchy online (did someone was that?)

www.project-entropia.com (I don't like the game but many others love it.)

Fantasy has a head start over sci-fi because current games were based on Dungeons and Dragons. Early success and no desire to change genre has hurt sci-fi.
