mmo with a nice healingclass

Hi, this is my second thread on the forums, yay! Anyways, I play games for healing. Recently tried some tanking but healing is by far more fun.

Im looking for a game that might have healing simular to the WHM in ffxiv arr. Big solid heals, aoe heal and singletarget heal.

Maybe something in between the old holypriest from wow and whm from ARR. A game that looks nice, some flashy heals a cute avatar (thinks of my lalafell). Have alot of different armors that look good, not like wow cause it looks horrid in that game, preferebly cloth for dresses, and staffs for the healer. With alot of dungeons where I can heal ofc :p

Reason Im not that into ffxiv arr is because I do have alot of lag in that game and it makes it very hard for me to avoid all the crap that game has on the floors etc. I really do like my healer there but when the content is unplayable for me ill have to try and go look elsewhere.

Ive tried Rift, and I am currently playing it , but there is only the cleric and I just dont like it very much for some reason, might be because you gotta use the absorbs and things to be efficient in 5mans, the impression ive gotten.

Anyways, is there any games except wow and ffxiv arr that have a nice healer type im looking for ? Where it isnt too hard to catch up and be apart of the community and raids/partys?

If there is not a healer like that, is there a healer like the shaman from WAR, oh i loved that goblin of mine named Gubble, he was awesome, he the only male character ive ever managed to play ♥

Dont mind sub game or f2p.

Happy holidays :)

Wrexia.

I was actually gonna suggest rift, the Chloromancer is one of my all-time favourite MMO healers (along with Vanguard Bloodmage and EQ2 defiler).      AoC has some very interesting healers and looks nice.

Not the 'new' shiny game you are looking for, but without a doubt a game where healers are super important is Everquest 1, at least from what I remember.  I think its FTP right now.

Vanguard is another one of the top of my head, kind of a dead game I think though.

Believe it or not Star Wars the Old Republic.  Also The Secret World have solid and important healing classes in both PvE and PvP.

By far, in my opinion though the class trinity MMO is Everquest 1.  Tanks are tanks, DPS are DPS and healers are healer.  You have tons of races to pick from and big scary dungeons to try and run.  I know its not as sexy as the newer MMOs, but if you are looking for a challenging healer experience then I can't think of any current game to rival it.

My favorite healers are in DAoC. I have an absolute blast playing almost any healing class in that game. There are multiple healers with access to big single target and aoe heals, and they often have other fun tools.

From what you are describing, a Druid, Healer, Shaman, or even Bard might interest you. Clerics as well, though I always found Healers and Druids (the other main healers) far more fun to play. Especially Healers.

Apologies if you have already played DAoC or are looking for newer games. I just figured it might be easier on your PC in hectic situations, and it's a great time for healers. Good luck!
-edit: oh yeah as the poster above said, EQ's a great choice as well. ;)

Actually, EQ1 had some of the best actual hybrids. Druids were a lot of things, as were Shamans, and even Clerics weren't entirely useless as more than just a healer.

Also, cannot forget Enchanter, that was neither DPS, Tank, nor Healer. But Controller really... classes were more interesting in EQ1 I must say. It wasn't until EQ2 and WoW that we really got this far more rigid trinity system.

  • I have not tried daoc :) but my computer is not the issue, it is latency issues with ARR. Im fine in every other game ive played.

Ive tried TSW and i really like the questing lvling and dungeons, i sadly dont like the healing one bit.

As for rift, im trying to lvl a mage up as i dont like the cleric but the mage does heals while dpsing. Im looking for more of a pure healet if you know what I mean :D

Thank you all for such quick replys! :) and sorry for typos, on my phone and ya know that the phone writes what it wanna write :p

Ya, but a druid was a healer when a group got going, at least at the high levels, a shamen and druid could certainly buff, but near end game they were expected to heal.  Enchanters were expected to do CC and keep mana up.  Roles were pretty clear cut.  I guess while the classes could hybrid, their roles were very clear, at least that was my experience.

I agree, classes were more interesting with very unique mixed, but roles were clear.

If your groups only healer was a druid, then aside from buffing, his job was to keep the group alive.

I would recommend TERA.  The healing experience is very different than traditional MMOs.  You're rarely staring at health bars (although if you enjoy that type of healing it could be a minus)  I believe the graphics are prolly the closest to FFXIV's of any game in the market.  There are overly cute races and also overly slutty races so it depends on what you want.  The quest grind leveling can be painful but the end game is pretty fun and healers are the least gear dependant so it shouldn't be that hard to catch up in a reasonable amount of time, but may take a while due to the +1-12 nature of gear in Korean games.

Edit: Oh this came up in another thread but now that I think about it there is also Wakfu if you want to try turn based combat.

I second DAoC. You have many different healing classes and each has different ways to be played. Each realm has more or less 1 dedicated healer with big heals but the class also has support spells. I played Midgard Healer and was the only "full" healer in our group. What that ment was, I had to keep the group alive while also making sure the other group can't move. Basicly, you heal your tanks, slow the other tanks chasing you or your caster, intererupting their casters/healers while constantly moving around on the battlefield to keep everyone in range for the heals but out dont move to close or you are insta stunned.

Other healing classes, cleric fe, dont have as much croud control but they have a bit better heals. Others can heal not as much but have debuffs, dots that interrupt, spell that reduces the incoming healing and/or long range cc. Really depends on how you want to play. Even has a support healer that has stealth! Squishy but sleep out of nowhere, freaking Minstrels!

Never gets boring as healer because there is way too much stuff to do. If you have time to stand still, you are doing something wrong. There is ALWAYS room for one more stun :D And if you and your grp are really good you can even manage to fight 2 groups at once and win, in this game that doesnt depend on luck.

And if you get bored with the healer, you can always try one of the other 44 classes. My suggestion would be the pvp server. Simply because it is the only game I know of that has basicly no safe zones except for the capitel city which is its own very small zone. Otherwise, kill people in dungeons, during artifect encounters which are difficult on their own and then steal the kill. Never had so much paranoia farming anything as I had in this game.

edit: complety forgot the damage part, the Midgard healer can also go full melee and gets stuff like atk damage and atk speed buffs. Cleric can go for damage spells which dont deal less damage than the ones of the basic damage caster. That combined with his stun can be pretty deadly and he has enough spare points to get a bit healing. Shaman has dots and a slow, yeah it is fun to see a melee crawl and slowly die.

    EQ2: Templar.

it's such a straight healer class that it needs to party in order to level. fortunately there are several options:

    1. simply buy the level 85 (current raid level is 95).

    2. ingame hire a mercenary to either tank or dps for you while you heal.

    3. ive noticed a number of new guilds starting up looking for recruits.

    4. level as an Inquisitor on the evil faction side and then betray when you are ready to switch classes to the good side.
