Active MMO

Are there any MMOs that actually feel like an MMO at the moment?

I tried Rift a few months ago for example and the game just felt like a desert, the rifts were supposed to be group events but there was no one around. I love MMOs because of the players, the interaction and roleplaying occasionally but it's hard to find one where you don't end up feeling alone other than WoW.

I know Guild Wars 2 is pretty active and i played it for a few months but it couldn't keep me interested.

Any suggestions?

    honestly, if Rift felt like a desert you was just playing on the wrong server because that game is still very active.  Just transfer servers most US servers are med/high population pretty much all the time.

    EQ2 has a fun community, especially if you join a guild. It's FTP so it's easy to give it a try. Antonia Bayle is the RP server.
