Needless to say I was completely lost at first, so I went through these big gates where a lot of folks were. Next thing I know I'm following a marching line of 100's of people, right into a volley of archer fire. I was in total awe at the time lol.

I really hope I am wrong.

It certainly was, although I'd have to point out I don't really expect to feel that same sense of awe this time around. Which says nothing of whether I could enjoy ESO or not.

Personally I have my own approach to games, at least different from the norm around here, I don't really get hung up on the success and failures of these products. I'm just looking for some good clean fun, no more, no less. If a title is not to my liking, I typically move on without a peep. Too many choices to get hung up on just one.

In the q and a, part of a question asked about caravans. Are there caravans?

I personally think its a mistake not to put any cool down mechanic when you capture the keep. As somebody mentioned above it will just be a merry go round where you capture the keep then go for lunch then enemy captures it then you come back from lunch and get it back and after a wile it gets boring and feels meaningless you will have no sense of accomplishment. There should be some kind of timer let say ones you capture it you have a 24 cool down where enemy cant get it back. I didn't read much about the game but I assume there will be several smaller keeps and then a main one, so you put 24 hours timer on small ones and then a week long timer on the main one so you have one chance a week to get then main keep. So when you do you feel like you really accomplished something for your clan/faction and if you lose it not gonna be like meh am gonna come back in 15 min and try again. Just my two cents.

Just your opinion.  Personally, I'd prefer open world PVP, with an anywhere, anytime approach to PVP.   I didn't like GW2 PVP at all, even with 3 teams.  PVE social aspects weren't strong enough, and thus there was no desire to stay on a particular realm.  Just switch to the winning side & zerg.  There was no thrill from winning either, so meh.  Just my opinion.

Social aspects won't be strong with ESO either, since it is just another single player MMORPG, essentially.

I do find it fascinating, however, that Zenimax is pushing PVP as a major selling point.  Recent trailer(s), interviews, and now this Q/A focusing on PVP.  It's such a crushing blow to ES .. but perhaps Zenimax sees something I don't?  Do PVP'ers want to do PVE content first to get max level, before they can PVP en'masse? (all the while paying a sub?)

I'm stocking up on popcorn, because (IMO) this is going to be a bigger blaze than even SWTOR. /munch-munch

i think this game is going to fail as well but i do not agree it will be as bad as swtor

Yeah, looks exactly the same. I hate GW2's art style so im not playing it often but i doubt it will be enough for me to pay a sub if i can have almost the same experience for free.

ROFL, what, not even close, I'm a Dev and an artist, there is a huge difference, some people are blind.. The same ROFL..

A game does not fail, when a game fails it goes offline, I wish I made a game that made millions and had players say it fails, LOL.. I would laugh all the way to the bank.

Odd, after reading the responses I see v ery few questions and a lot of whining.  Don't you people have something better to do than complain?  I do wish that the pvp was done more like DAoC, but I will wait and see how their version works out before whining about it.

My question would be are they going to add some open world pvp areas after release or a competitive dungeon like DAoC has.  Battlegrounds are something to be avoided if you ask me, I have never enjoyed them.

Listen up new generation. This is not GW, this is not hollow pvp like GW. READ, if anything it is more in line with DAOC, which was way better, imho

I also ask that question, as I remember Daoc as well fondly, and think specialized areas open to the alliance in control is as good if not better than stats.

Whether this game is good or bad I still don't know.. I do hope its good. But.. but all these news! It's JUST LIKE any other mmo. Sieges, zergs, pewpew leveling, gear advancement later, dungeons and raids...  No new things except maybe the crafting system. They could as well be developing a guild wars 2 skin.

Started off a huge fan of this project, now I catch myself checking EQN news more and more often.

As of right now, no BG's, and yes they do have a Darkness Falls type of dungeon in the works.

As for OWPVP, Cyrodil is essentially that. From 10 on you can spend all your time there PVEing in a OWPVP like environment.

The problem with wide open PvP, of course, is that not everybody is particularly honorable about it.  What you'll wind up with is bands of roving jerks who run around and gang-splash solo players and small groups just for giggles, which completely destroys any fun those players might have.

With things like Vent and Mumble around, you can't even stop it by simply not allowing people to form teams - they will team up regardless.  Bullies are everywhere, even in MMOs, and for bullies, it's not about proving how well they can fight or having fun - it's just about messing up somebody else's life so they can somehow feel better about their own messed up life.

The three-faction PvP should, to a degree, mitigate the old MMO problem of "Side A is super-strong in PvP on this server, so there's no point in even playing if you're on Side B", but in any case, there is a reason why virtually no MMOs offer open-world PvP.  Even with swtiched PvP, like in WoW, there is enough room for error.  If you're a healer and you accidentally catch a flagged player in your AoE heal, then you're flagged, and there are always a few dozen people around who will tear a healer apart just because they're comparatively easy to kill - if they get even half a chance.

Look at the bright side - you can spend all of your time in the PvP areas if that's how your blood flows, and fight to your heart's content.  Personally, I have no vested interest in trying to make anybody else's life miserable, and frankly I don't believe how well you play PvP reflects on how tough you are or how much a man you are, or how well endowed you are.  It just means you PvP a lot.  I don't much care for PvP.  I know of vast numbers of other players who feel likewise.  Opening up ESO to open world full-time PvP would instantly halve their audience, and I'm pretty sure Bethesda is extremely aware of that.
