Ok so I said to read that review and tell me it is NOT biased. Can you say that it isn't biased?
Yes, I believe it's an honest, unbiased review. Are you saying that all the reviews like this one, the one in NY Times, Wired Magazine, PC Gamer, PC Gamer UK, MMORPG.com, etc. that are "less than flattering" to the NGE are biased?
SOE knows what you like... You don't! And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!

Of course he is. Any review of the NGE that isn't 100% flattering is 'biassed' to him. He even thought my review, which I worked VERY hard to stick just to facts that I personally experienced in the game was biassed. Even though every word was 100% true. (And still was last time I checked).
Anarchy is completely incapable of admitting that the NGE is worse than pre-NGE. Pre NGE was better. The only GOOD thing about NGE is the damn quest system. And that could have been put in without ripping the game to shreds.

Well, while we are in the same side of the argument, I don't agree with you saying that PRE-NGE was better as a fact. And don't get me wrong, I for one believe PRE-CU was the best, but that's a matter of opinion. If all that AA cared for was combat throughout SWG, then I could see why NGE might be the best in his opinion. But the bottom line is: WHY DID THEY HAVE TO FU*% DID THEY HAVE TO SCREW UP EVERYTHING ELSE!
SOE knows what you like... You don't! And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!

That is not true and a little hurtful coming from you Elnator. Did you read the CGW article? The only thing missing from it was "I support an NGE rollback" and "SOE sucks!" in the guys signature. Give me a review by someone who has never played SWG before and that will be an unbiased review. And good luck finding a computer game magazine employee who hasn't.
If I thought pre-NGE was better I would say it. Why the hell wouldn't I unless you think I just like to lie for fun. Fact is, lots of people think it's more fun now, but they are playing the game unlike upset SWG fans who have no place to go but forums.
Now Ideally I would like the same old skill trees and professions as before but with the new combat system and the new quests. I did like choosing my own path and training each other, that was very kewl. But the old locked target combat system and grinding bols to fill out templates sucked! It was Not Star Warsy!
Just my opinion. And I never said your review was biased. I said that you claimed there was zero content for level 30+ when you had clearly not given the 30+ game enough of a try. I didn't even say I disagreed because I have no basis as I haven't been lvl 30+ yet, I just noticed that you hadn't either.

And that's exactly SOE's thinking too, erase the past, remove all players who know how they treat their customers. Shouldn't company history and the way the game has been developed in the past (i.e. never in a near-finished state, always bug-ridden) contribute to a review of the current game, radically different though it may be?
That's exactly what the reviewer pointed out. "What stinks more than anything is SOE's treatment of the game's devoted fans, who find themselves spurned by the developer's hope that a dumbed-down gaming experience will appeal to a wider audience."
That is and should be a big part of the review, for it is absolutely indicative of how the company will continue to develop and market the game, and how it will continue to behave with its playerbase.
Personally, I say that would be a somewhat misleading review then. If 80% of the people playing were playing before the NGE, then 80% of the people are looking, at least partially, at the game in terms of comparison to the previous version (the review is not for them, though). It's the same game, though it has changed genre completely, it's still SWG. The fact that these are re-reviews, not first reviews, indicates there should at least be mention of how the new version came about. It's still the same company, the way they have handled the game in the past certainly will continue with the NGE.
This is just a point of disagreement, whether you feel like the manner in which the NGE was released matters and how the company has delt with the game so far, or whether you want to sweep it under the floor.

4/9 professions do not work. How could anyone review just the NGE and give it any higher then a 40% that is all of the game that actually works. That doesn't take into account gated players with broken quests, lag galore, etc.
I wouldn't be to quick to ask for NGE only reviews. Simply because still the game is busted. Even wepps in the swg is suffering problems. Such as massive base spawns across worlds while checking his harvestors that serve no purpose. He says lag is horrid.
Just saying bro... If you asked someone to review your game based only on its merits it wouldn't get a 1 star. Its not finished.
And that's fine for you. Personally, I was around long enough to have seen and experienced more than my share of SOE's deceitful actions that I wouldn't play their game even if it was the best one on the planet.

Even if it was the best game on the planet?? Man what did SOE do, break into your house and flush your dogs head down the toilet?

No idea about the others, except I do wish they still had decay. It helps immersion. But then I think that banging into stuff on your speeder should blow it up or at least damage it severely just like in the trees in return of the jedi.

Well that would be okay if things didnt load right on top of you when you are zooming across the land. Its just a mild annoyance when an NPC base loads with me in the middle of it while driving. But it would piss me off if it blew me up when I hit the wall.

If SW NGE was a new game, this might be true but when you have 200, 000 people playing a game and have NGE wadded on you like old chewing gum how can you say that?
This opinion is classic of SOE attitude. Sense of entitlement, accountable to no one and a very rude appropriation. Often the playerbase of any game, SWG not excluded are overly demanding but to suggest that SOE can just shuffle you out the back door like a $3 hooker is lunacy.
Originally posted by zizi81 I'm new to SWG and I'd say the game is good - even great compared to other mmorpg's at the moment. I'd say for example that the aiming system is great - feels more like fighting when your target isn't locked up and in my opinion it brings more action to the game. I also find that it's rather easy to play SWG RP-style. The only minus seems to be this beta-look. Buildings appearing from nowhere and buggy graphics etc. Of course I understand that there are lots and lots of vets who doesn't like when their character has been "destroyed", but this is my point of view as a new player. This is a forum - I told you my opinion, share your own one.
Good there are some that likes the game as it is nowadays. For me it doesn't cut it anymore, played the NGE for a month and it is the worst thing I ever played. It is to plain, simple and has no diversity anymore as it had before... and making into some halfharted fps... Not good at all, the server lag is too high for that.

Well that's convenient! That's pretty biased from you actually. If the NGE were a separate game, say SWG2 with it's own separate servers, then it would've warranted a review by someone who hadn't played SWG before. But this was forced on ALL OF US and screwed up much of what we liked. So it IS an honest review just like all others and it got what it deserved.

I just wander how many lives the SoE cat has? There are only so many times they can pull the rug from under people surely.
alright.
Smuggler still broke, trader broke, commando broke, jedi broke (maybe fixed Jan 17th), Spy works, BH works, Officer works, Medic works.

Well I dunno about the others but for trader:
No decay cutting hard into business.
Extractor bug limiting resource collection and driving up prices.
RIS Quest loot not dropping in proper amounts, again driving up prices.
Loot weapons are better than crafted, making weaponsmiths obsolete.
Thats just off the top of my head.
NGE Refugee.
The stats. But your right. All weapons are the same, no matter what the stats.
