Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:
A. Proven right (if something bad happens)
or
B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)
Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!

I've been leveling up a third job now this Christmas, and, for me at least, it seems like fate grinding is still the way to go sadly.
The new 50 content is fun though PVP turned out to be a blast imo, but nothing new or original. the extreme mode trials are challenging and fun, and I don't really mind the crystal tower raid as it makes the farm for philo tomes a lot faster. Haven't really noticed any new content for leveling though, you know, except for PVP.
Game isn't really worth playing I am dropping my sub when it expires in like 7 days.
Sure they add new dungeons new content, but I expected more from SE when it came to housing/customization in game its very limited to what I can change on my character, and not what I want from a MMO, also no good housing systems in game yet, I do not like the fact that there are limited land plots either for FC's when it comes to buying housing and such every guild should be able to have one. I am not exactly sure about the housing system but it is what I understand from the patch notes and it really turns me away from this game.
The game just isn't fun simply said lacks too much content there are better games out there than FFXIV at the moment, and in 2014 new MMO's will likely cause FFXIV to loose more subs, even GW2 to be honest is better than FFXIV.
If you find that way of leveling boring why do it? While it could still be argued the most efficient way it doens't mean it's the only way. Depending the class guildhests and dungeons could be faster with the roulette system (basically a free level a day by doing one dungeon and one guildhest with the daily bonus).
They have actually made the process of leveling alts a little bit more viable. For one leves now give better experience, of course you don't want to be doing leves all the time. They have added a couple of quests not enough to really groom an alt through though. The main function really would be the dungeons as they give great experience now especially when getting a bonus of the roulette. Pretty much how I am doing my alts, do the roulette for a run then back to main stuff.
The process of leveling an alt class on your main character is not a bad experience for me so far. All you're really missing is most regular quests and story quests. But personally I would not want to be force to drudge though all the same stuff again like you do in all other MMO's while leveling an alt.
You have options that don't require much reading, so it doesn't feel like i'm going through the same paces doing the exact same things I did on my main, with the dialogue.
You have levelquests, dungeons, fates, guildhests, mob grind etc.
If doing those doesn't sound fun, nothing is stopping anyone from making a typical alt like in any other mmo...you have 8 character slots if you really want to go through the quests/story quests again.
