I got some xmas money stacked up and decided im going to sub/buy a new mmorpg.
Rules: - Money is sacred to me so im not fond of wasting it in games i wont appreciate. And i wont be subbing/buying more than one game for the time beeing so dont go saying to try alot of games and decide for myself
- Games that i've been looking into but feel afraid of buying them just to feel like i've wasted some money:
- FFXIV ARR (HUGE fan of the IP and this one is promising but i feel like the combat is pretty stupid by all skill having the same cooldown giving no strategic thought into it)
- Guild Wars 2(Supposedly sales are declining turning it into a dead mmo, something i hate, and the end game is inexistent to some extension where pvp and grinding gear is all there is to do)
-EvE(Love the sandbox aspects and will be looking for a game like it but its just isnt for anyone...sadly)
-WoW (I've been playing mmos for quite a while and the only p2p game i've ever subbed to was WoW and it wasnt for that long and it was like near the release of WotLK so no nostalgia value for me)
-Please do not give biased opinions on your favourite games because i will see through it...
So can you bunch help me out?

all of them, except GW2, have 2 weeks free trials....which you can pretty much repeat as long as you want with a new email address.
If you still can't decide after you've tried them then i say don't bother, they are obviously not that interesting to you.
as for GW2 it's definitely on the downward trend. this game requires a group to have fun (hence the name). If you don't have friends playing it, or are looking for a solo experience don't even bother. PvE in this game is very basic and all end game content is instanced pvp.
first of all this is perhaps a language barrier issue, but when you ask for someone's opinion you are in fact asking for their personal bias.
i have purchased games before, usually on sale, and only played them for a few months. yet, i felt like i got my money's worth out of the purchase. but other people feel differently.
so, i think the only thing i would ask of you to start off would be what do you expect to get for the average box price of an mmo (let's say 60USD)?

i haven't played FF14 so i cannot comment on the game. however of all 4 it is the most expensive to buy AND has a subscription.
I have played the other 3 and, if you hate wasting money, i would suggest GW2 simply because it doesn't have a subscription. it's a one time purchase and that's all need to spend.
it really doesn't sound like you are very excited about EvE or WoW.
Uh... What? You ask for our opinions on what MMO to play, and then tell us not to give our opinions. All without giving us anything to go on besides shooting down 4 of the highest rated MMO's in existence currently.
What exactly do you want? If you didnt like WoW, you probably wont like FFXIV too much. Its a heavily instancesd, linear MMO that makes you repeat a lot of content to level up multiple classes on a single character. Many people have said all but its very extreme end raiding is very easy, although that could be said of most MMO's.
Guild Wars 2 is a great game. It's worth the money to buy and play, even if you just level up a single character to max. I just wouldnt expect it to be the MMO you spend years playing, especially if you don't like PvP.
EVE is niche. I loved it. Most don't. Its a heavy time sink, which is sadly why I quit playing.
There's mountains of reviews, websites and youtube videos out there to help you make up your mind.
If, by chance you did want my biased opinion... nothing. Spend $7.50 on Skyrim instead. Or replay Final Fantasy 8. Or play through the Mass Effect Trilogy. The MMO genre is set to release some great games this year, but everything currently is stale and boring. There are some outstanding single player RPG type games to play though!
I think someone is exhibiting a bit of "bias" here.

1- Well i guess you have a point but what i was really asking for was for some valid arguments and not just the "omg go play wow cuz its so cool bro"
2-What i'm really looking for is something to get attatched to. meaning i want to play at least a couple of months. But i think i'm leaving out gw2. leaving out ffxiv and wow
Now as for ffxiv, im really tempted to get into it but i've heard that the combat is dull and boring. And i've seen some videos on it just showing a guy pressing 1 button, 2.5 secs later, the same button...
Cause all the skills have the same cd and so i think ill just be using the best dps wise...
Sorry for the misunderstanding on the biased opinions i've already explained that
But i think that if i try to be true with myself...Im trying to get some courage to go and buy FFXIV but i want someone to tell me and explain to me why should(n't) do it...
lol then just make a new post " is FF14 combat as boring as it looks?"
Is there any MMORPG ever made for which that statement isn't true?
I get your point but im trying to be as open minded as i can. Mainly because i might be fixating on a bad game(which might not be in this case) just because im a fan of the IP
This is good advice.
I think for your buck you cant get a better deal than Guild Wars 2. It's the highest quality F2P on the market IN MY OPINION
And,
The game is far from 'dead'
I could give you a million reasons why, but it's simply the game I recommend, I've played the others, and I constantly find myself going back to GW2.
As another user you said, you won't play it for the next 5 years, but it will keep you busy, and be a great game until some of the newer releases come out later this year.
Agreed
FFXIV:
i have played it and for a time played it with a cross game guild.
it's greatest strengths also happen to be its weaknesses.
1. it is a very traditional mmo. solid, clearly defined roles for grouping and raiding. while this means that in a group you must have one and only one class their subclass system was good and you can literally start over and level every class if you want.
2. it is sub based, but the content will always be free (aside from any expansions that may come in a year or two).
3. it is an old school mmo in that combat is not action oriented, however, in spite of complaints there is a certain amount of strategy and tactics one has to use with older gaming models that you won't find in more current ones.
4. it is a beautifully hand crafted world. while procedurally generated worlds are more common i think, they often lack a level of texture detail and beauty that come with zones being made directly by the artists involved.
5. crafting is one of the better systems i've run across. with SWG and Vanguard at the top.
6. it is a very traditional mmo in that there is a lot of grinding. be prepared to simply run FATEs with a group in various zones, or to grind on your own. probably both. i like grinding, i find it relaxing, a lot of people find grinding drives them crazy.

You're right.
-Exciting combat(not full action like TERA and i think gw2 covers this but im not sure)
-HARD PvE and raids(i think ffxiv covers this)
-The leveling process to me is not really important
-An extremely active community and playerbase so i can feel like im a part of something big and try to be the best at it(I guess wow kinda has me here)
-Some sandbox aspects and for gods sake...Useful crafting! I dont like that crafting is just a thing thats there to fill up space.
Again, Aside from your sandbox aspects, I recommend GW2. Some of the dungeons are very fun and difficult, but community is built via WvWvW combat. Join a T1 server and they have a community Teamspeak that is always full and engaging.
I think im giving up on the idea of ffxiv because of the WAYYY too traditional aspect in the combat system and going for gw2 for some fresh air...Plus there arent any subs.
The only downside i see on gw2 is the lack of cooperation i believe there is but someone might correct me on this one
I've decided im going to lock my decision on gw2.
This decision wasnt easy at first but by excluding other options it seemed like the most valid option
Some questions though:
-Whats the best(most populated/best guilds) server in EU?
-Is crafting relevant to the game?
-Is anyone on EU who would like to give me some pointers in-game?
After that is cleared

Download EVE's free trial. Play through the newbie missions and look around a bit. You'll soon get a sense of if it's something you want to devote time to or not. Even if you don't like it it's a useful comparison for other MMOs. What've you got to lose?
Sadly all the other games you mentioned only have minor variations. They're pretty much the same game at the core. Roll up a char, level up, decide whether you like the end game (AKA the real game), grind or unsub.
GW2 has action combat and smooth questing and you only have to pay once, FF has nice crafting, WoW has longevity and loads of polished content but none offer anything truly unique like EVE does.
I agree and it is true that EVE has a special feeling but for the moment its just not my type of game but it will also mean something to me. Meaning the next time i want to try it ill just buy it off on a steam sale
GW2 isn't a bad game. But, if his looking for end game dungeons/raids. I'm sorry to say, but GW2 is not the game he's looking for.
From just the 2 points I put in red. I would say Wildstar is the mmo you are looking for. GW2 isn't a bad mmo to play till Wildstar launches. Its also a decent mmo for the fact that you can go back any time without worrying about a sub.
