Star Citizen - I'm on the edge.

I am really considering buying into this game. I think Roberts may be able to pull off something nice with all the backing he has, not to mention whatever other funding has come from everything aside Kickstarter. There has been so much hype about this game and then of course the negative backlash. Reading everything makes me want to grab the backs of the "Fanbois" and "Trolls" heads and crack them together.

Anyone have a back and forth with themselves about donating to the cause and not regret it?

No, I put my cash down on the Elite Kickstarter which will be out sooner and is currently in alpha, I can decide about buying SC when it actually comes out.

Rather than funding more and more stretch goals, I feel the project has already passed the point where people should be waiting to see what version 1.0 actually delivers.

I am buying them all. Elite, Star Citizen, Mandate, all these kick starter sponsored space games. I don't think I can go wrong with them. I am even tempted to try out Entropy alpha access on STEAM right now. I am not on the edge. I am looking forward to seeing new space games on my PC not overly linked to survival horror and without freaking elves.  It seems like forever since we have had good space games because no one could convince publishers there was a market for them. Well, we fans all funded our own space games so screw em. :)

Could not agree more. Have waited a loong time for a good space sim, not just EVE and the X- series, Im sad to say, was not good at all the last one.

I think time will be a bigger issue for the game than money. Can they make everything they want to in a reasonable amount of time ?

I have no answer or prediction.

I waited because if there is something you have to have that you could only get as a backer, I wouldn't want to play the game anyway. I hate timed content even if I got it. If there's nothing I can't buy once the game goes live, it will just look different, I don't mind buying what's available at the time.

So either way there was no risk in waiting. The game had it's funding long before I knew about it anyway.

It cracks me up that some people put more effort into analyzing and agonizing over their video game purchases than they do in purchasing a car or a home...lol

I am 40$ in each Elite and Star Citizen and hope their development plans work out better than that of PGI (Mechwarrior Online).

I'm married, I picked the car and house my wife told me I liked best. She doesn't get to pick my games so I actually care about what I choose :)
