Ummm phasers that disintegrate the person only? Beam me up scotty? No magic you say?
Microwave ovens, Television, Fusion, space walks, its all maagikk i tell you....
Wasn't there a book or a movie a few years back based on something like that? How all modern technologies only worked because we BELIEVED they did. It was the power of our minds, and thats what really contolled the physics of our universe. It was a pretty interesting story, I think it was a book, its been a long time though.

Very good post and I concur. The game is going to be shut down. The head of a large corporation states that they must generate business for the long term, so some short term loss is expected. However, there SHOULD have been a jump in business around Christmas time. The online beating the game and company took overall seems to have taken a toll.
Wandering around several malls for Christmas I noted maybe a half dozen boxes of SWG, none of the new game and most of them the original galaxies editions. There were alot of wow games but none of SWG. What should that say? Their focus was to email cancelled vets to come back for a free trial. Most came, saw and fled.
I cannot wait for this game to close. It is painful...and embarrasing to watch.
Originally posted by haxxjoo Why bother posting this? Why make such a statement? I want you all to read this exert from John Smedley's post. We HAVE to think that long-term. With the game the way it was we knew we would never be able to attract enough people to really keep SWG viable as a business. It certainly would have kept some portion of our existing playerbase for a good long time, and we would have put out new expansions and new content as well as fixing bugs.. but it wouldn't have appealed to the really large Star Wars fanbase out there.. and frankly over time the existing userbase would have churned out as happens in any game like this. We just didn't have the game we needed to have if we're going to really grow this userbase. It might surprise you to know that after the first combat upgrade, we actually added new subs. We took a step in the right direction, but it just wasn't enough. So what we're doing here is obviously risky.. we're betting that we can make this game a whole lot more fun to our existing userbase AND make it appealing enough so that we can grow that userbase in a major way. So on this board can we please stop the server size screenshot posts and endless debate on whether or not the servers are very light, light or medium. It all boils down to this. The NGE is being given a certain amount of time to get polished into a system that appeals to the really large star wars fanbase. That means a significant turn in polls and subscriber numbers for the game. At the current trend with SWG and its decay over time userbase would indicate swg is not going to be viable as a business. At that point SOE is going to either shut it down operational or sell it off (if it even can). My personal belief is that SOE developers realize its get the game to work or be unemployeed. I am certain this is driving them to get things fixed. All you players who play this game need to wake up to this very soon. Unless you help persuade people of the NGE being the best version of swg there wont be a swg. So if you really want a star wars mmo and like the nge you'd better start helping soe a lot. Otherwise you will be playing battlefront II with me.
I would never pay for a game, or anything that I feel is substandard. Why would I give my hard earned money to a game (in my opinion) is CRAP. If it means that it will shut down forever.. then I say, working as intended.

The licence for a shadowrun mmo is owned by Microsoft, unfortunatly. As they have already plans on this marvel MMO we cant expect to see a SR MMO any time soon, i guess

They should chuck the Marvel MMO... CoH will crush it. Too little too late.
Oh man.. Shadowrun would just blow the doors off the mmorpg dump. Modern, plus hot elves for the kiddies.

It sounds great, so great in fact, I pitty those who canceled - Some deluded SWG fanboi who pities me. I don't like it when you say things. - A Vanguard fan who does too. 09f911029d74e35bd84156c5635688c0
For those of you that keep saying LA does not have any involvement with any changes.
Its a joint venture and for those of you crazed jedi nuts might i remind you when it was in early development one of the chief SoE developers(now working on vanguard) kept his ground on a no playable jedi SWG and was over ruled by LA .
LA keeps an eye on this game and no major change goes thru without LA.

As believable as beams of light coming from a hilt that cut through almost anything like a hot knife through butter.
Damn! Now I'M HUNGRY!
SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!
