Looks like Brad's trying to make another huge and bland game world, but now with forced downtimes, forced grouping and action combat.

    Meh.

Hell yeah, i second that, though i am a huge Darkfall player for years now, EQ, Vg and EQoa were some of the best MMORPG's ever made and still hold my attention over most any other game ever thrown at us. Really hope this project goes well, now if only we could zap to the future we would be set hehe.

I too am excited to see how this one turns out.

If it's anything like his previous games, it should be amazing.

I do think it is smart to go back to the idea of group oriented MMO's. MMO's where you can solo just about everything gets old quick, and often lacks a good community.

I love Vanguard but I don't really understand what unique thing this game is offering that hasn't been done before... The Kickstarter video made it sounds extremely generic. Hopefully it's not...

Early big donors would be my guess.  Pantheon should reach its kickstarter goal easily. Unfortunately, the big test will be if the game can maintain a healthy paying population if/when the game actually launches.

As for me, I would welcome the challenging gameplay but the forced grouping moves me out of their target demographic.image

Good luck to you guys that are searching for this type of game.

I divided the number of backers by the amount backed

    it's around 107 dollars a person.

So I don't think it's 'just a few big backers' that are causing this to happen.

there are a few, no doubt, but there are also a lot of 45 dollar buyers, it shows how many are left at that level, there are about 400 people who have went the 45 dollar route.

If I factor in that, then there are about 410 people who have pledged 168 dollars or more each.

Still, around half of the backers have been 45 dollar level backing, so the theory that it's people with deep wallets making this happen is a false one.

So it's going to be crowd funded this time before he releases a broken mess of a game and SoE has to acquire and fix.

Sorry, it sounds interesting but people are nuts if they want to trust Brad McQuaid in charge of another project.

I know people feel a certain way about Brad but all I see on sites like this one are mmorpgs just aren't living up to the greatness of the past. This is a chance to prove that these games are still viable if not desired. To reverse the horrible trend we have had to put up with. It's silly to me that people wouldn't pledge something.

I backed this project as well.  This is no different then a fan favorite movie getting a reboot and being a success.  problem is most of the people here want something new.  well the next thing for mmorpg's  is virtual reality lol.

Hey remember when Everquest Next released their information about the game and this community screamed we want Everquest 1 with updated graphics? Now I read people don't want that old school feeling.  I wonder if majority of this community suffers from year round PMS.

They can't even get 1 million if they sell all of their reward backers. They expect to make up to 7 million plus from $10 no reward backers? Things are not looking good for the ranger class at 1 million stretch goal and worse for the bard class at 3.2 million.

Do people really want a game with 75% less world, races, and classes then EQ or Vanguard????

Backed and those who were screaming about wanting EQ1 with better graphics better back this or STHU honestly. The only issue with Vanguard was from a technical aspect. It still has one of the best gameworlds, best classes, best crafting systems, best races and nothing like the diplomacy system exists in any mmo anywhere nowadays.

I am going to ask this question once more. For all those who hate Brad or bash him, what person or company do you feel is going to help the genre or get it back to its roots because I truly want to hear it.

There are no rising stars in mmo development that will help take this to the next level or get it back to its roots. None

So please lets hear yours because I want to know who they are and that includes companies. Because Zeni sure ain't doing it and while I think WS will be alright they aren't exactly doing anything spectacular either.

I am happy to back this game if at least to tell publishers that there is still interest in these type of mmos so that more companies can start making them. Think about it as helping the genre get the spark it needs again.

Any mmo worth its salt should be like a good prostitute when it comes to its game world- One hell of a faker, and a damn good shaker!

Yup I agree but then this site is notorious for not being happy or supportive.  I don't post much on this site.  I tend to come here and read post on break, and lunch to see how upset people get about MMORPGS.  I feel if god was to make an mmorpg,  they would find something to complain about.

Brad was smart to say this game was for selective audience to instantly eliminate the complainers.  I don't see this game having issues reaching their goals and stretch goals if they market right.  Chris Roberts of Star Citizen did an amazing job and I really hope they take a page or 2 from Chris Roberts funding campaign to elevate Pantheons success!  Maybe I am a fanboy but at least I have found a game to believe in again.  Everyone in life deserves a 2nd chance including Brad Mcquaid.

People have been waiting for a FFT sequel even longer than waiting for a decent mmorpg :)

There is this concept of continuing to pledge money after the kickstarter ends. That's why they still have 3 years to go.

Rofl Brad looks like every moment of him being on the video was painful for him. I can see him disappearing on this project just like Vanguard quite honestly. That said the game looks more interesting and has more staff then I anticipated.

Bottom line, if McQuaid actualy managed to make the sort of game he talks about, there is a very decent chance I'd play it. He has good ideas and concepts about games, however I wouldn't actualy trust him to MANAGE a lemonade stand.

For projects like these, it's not enough to simply have good creative and game design skills, you actualy have to have MANAGEMENT and FINANCIAL skills too, or at the very least find someone trustworthy that does and delegate enough authority to them that they can actualy use those skills.

Vanguard was absolutely the worst MMO, I have ever played....and not just on the technical side. Even though some of the concepts of things it wanted or tried to do were great, execution was a disaster.
