It's really nice to get these video updates. Very encouraging when there is so much to talk about that a quick 5 minute ArcheAge chat turns into 15 minutes.
A good PR move, especially to explain what the alpha means, the time to translate includes 3 languages (English, French, German), and the turnaround revision time between XLGames and Trion. I hope these webcasts becomes a weekly thing for ArcheAge, personally.
- Ongoing translation and localization of the game
- Concept of 2 factions - not known by many folks new to game - not very obvious for new players
- Westernizing the game - focus on text and usability only
- Performance is astounding - running at 90FPS in DX9 on Scott's PC (Scott says his card can't do DX11 correctly but the game supports both DX9 and 11)
- XL is doing another round of client performance optimizations
- Only XL can do code changes so if Trion put 100,000 engineers they couldn't launch it any faster
- Trion version is 3 languages (English/French/German), there are server side grammar rules that need to implemented on the server
- Friends and family - currently really small group
- Current build options don't correctly save, known bug, another bug is no gold earned through trading
- Next milestone is to have all features working - the game won't go into wider alpha before 12-20 critical features that need to be fixed
- No dates given
- Scott was asked in chat "You said that the game was translated, - you are now a liar" (as he said that translation is still onging) - he said that as the game is currently live in Korea and they are adding new content - when Trion gets the new builds it's in Korean so the new content needs to be translated every time XL adds new stuff.
- It's like a race - XL devs keep adding content and they redid a lot of lower level content - so now that needs to be all translated as it's new text that wasn't in previous builds
For Godsake, no bunnies and cars... Seriously I'm sold if these two features are out. I realize that sounds shallow, but we all have our criteria, mine includes no bunnies or cars in a medieval-style game.

I know that this is difficult for some to get past, but ArcheAge is not a medieval-style game. The items and technology in ArcheAge were included in its lore from the the beginning of development and are supposed to be there. Many haven't taken the time to research the full depth of the background lore to understand this, they see Elves and just assume that it's the same old, same old.

When Russians localizators were inteviewed yesterday, they said some of the Costume items will not be making in to Russian version. So don't worry it will be up to Trion to decided what to put in to the game and what's not.

How would you describe it? Since you seem to know a bit more about the lore.
Aah, I should mention that steampunk technology has been part of the lore for as long as we've known about ArcheAge and the Hariharan race. Hariharans are characterized in part by their technological advancement, as well as their pragmatic work ethic (whereas Nuians are associated more with strong faith and conviction). Cars, airships, robots (including the Tare) are all technological advancements that are rather familiar on the Eastern continent. There's an area in the second map that is essentially a big coppery scrapyard.
So, in short, the technology in ArcheAge isn't an intrusion on its environment. It's part of what was intended from the start--not a shoddy add-on. It might not mesh with some people's ideas of what a "fantasy" is supposed to be, but it is part of Jeon Min-hee's fictional universe.

Thanks poster below.
Well as far as I could tell from one of the cgi trailers is that people of ArcheAge escaped their old world to live there due to some sort of conflict or natural disaster. So they are basically starting from the ground up while using their existing knowledge and technology.

Perhaps you have a problem with those things (car/bunnies) because you think this game is "medieval style" when it clearly is not.
One key thing to note (which I forgot) - is XL has no other distractions at this time, for their part they are done with China and Russia client so they can focus on EU/US now and obviously ongoing development of AA Korea.
But this is good news for US/EU - as we are no longer waiting in line for XL to be done with other regions first.
Thats not really the case, if you read the newest interview from Mail.ru, then you can see that the RU OBT is going to be a much different version from this CBT, they are now debating what to include from 1.0 in the RU version. Also our version is going to be the same as the RU (with minor differences), so when the RU version finally gets done and released things with Trion will speed up, but thats not going to happen soon, since as it seems Mai.ru is not in hurry with the release.
Trion is getting builds directly from XL, they are on independent track from Mail.Ru as Scott mentioned that the most recent build has November patch changes (rebalanced starter areas). The current mail.Ru version is not there yet, so Trions version is a lot more recent than mail.ru
Scott specifically said in twitch stream that XL can focus now on NA/EU now which they couldn't do before due to China and Russia work.
You are also NOT correct.
Nice to read you "elitists" talking bullshit over bullshit in this thread.
Trion will get an own version and the rebalanced starter areas were NOT part of the november patch last year. The EU/US version will be COMPLETELY different to the KR version. That´s why Trion isn´t interested in KR players opinions.
You wannabe-elitist korean players suck ... thank god Trion gives so many fucks about your opinion ^^
Glad Trion is finally talking about the game, but it may be too late. If this game goes the direction of the KR version I can't see myself playing it for too long. The last update videos out of Korea makes that one look more and more like Aion.... not what I was expecting out of this game at all.
I guess time will tell..... if I am even interested in it after ESO and Wildstar launches.

Which is also not correct, because XLGames said that there is going to be "only one, master version" for outside of KR, also Mail.ru said that Trion will use the same version as theirs, Mail.ru in the newest interview also said that the release version is going to be different from this CBT one.
We can keep continue guessing here, and never stop, when the day comes we will see.
