The Star Trek Online blog has been updated to finally reveal the name of the Star Trek actor who will be reprising their role in STO. We now know that Admiral Tuvok will arrive in game just in time for STO's fourth anniversary. Voiced by Tim Russ, Community Manager Brandon Felczer sat down with Russ to talk about his role in Star Trek Online.

See more on the Star Trek Online site.

Thanks to The_Grand_Nagus for the tip!

Kirks dead and Spock is in an alternate past timeline :)

STO continues on the story of the TV series set from the year 2400.

Ill revisit this game just to see this :)

Haven't played this game for a long time but about right I think, events of the game take place after the destruction of Romulus seen in the new "Star Trek" film, though I do remember Spock getting back to this reality/timeline because of his narration for the cinematics.

Yep, it's more like the revisited, parallel version of the first (new first, I mean 2009) movie, and not from TOS.

Nice interview from Bran, I never was a VOY fan, but having cast members in the game is always good :)

I'm glad to see this, if only because Tim Russ is such a great guy and enthusiast for Star Trek. Hell, he's fighting to get a TV new show going on.
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.

I love the idea of Tim Russ lending his voice to STO. I think it is great that the actors are still supporting the IP... however I still would like to see a complete Revamp of the away system to make it  more interesting and fun.  After a few of them you kinda get the urge to skip most of whats planetside just to get back in space.

Played: UO, LotR, WoW, SWG, DDO, AoC, EVE, Warhammer, TF2, EQ2, SWTOR, TSW, CSS, KF, L4D, AoW, WoT

Playing: The Secret World until Citadel of Sorcery goes into Alpha testing.

Tired of: Linear quest games, dailies, and dumbed down games

    Anticipating:Citadel of Sorcery

I feel bad for actors like Tim Russ. The Star Trek universe is great source material and it has great actors working in it, but, unfortunately, STO doesn't really feel like it draws from the source material well.

Where is the exploration? Where are the philosophical and ethical dilemmas? Were's the sense of social progress? Right off the top of my head, I think that STO needs:

    • An open morality system which, according to the cumulative track record of your choices (read "percentages" in here, not "simple black and white stats"), gains you favor with certain races and disfavor with other races. In fact, perhaps one could leave and join different races' factions in accordance with their ethical mode of operation.
    • Quests which allow multiple ways of solving problems, including disinterested compromise, rending assistance with others' interests, independently solving root issues which are creating the problems in the first place, using manipulation, using unmitigated violence, and so on. (You can fit productive violence in there somewhere.)
    • A dynamic political system which, based on how the majority of players complete certain quests, determines how the various races' societies are progressing and are currently interacting with one another.
Yeah, these ideas would take some serious logistical consideration, but you have to confront such complicated ideas in order to do the source material justice in STO.

As of right now, STO comes across as one giant exercise in, "Fire phasers!"

Waiting for: Citadel of Sorcery. Along the way, The Elder Scrolls Online (when it is F2P).
