Guild Wars 2: PvP Events to Participate In or Watch

ArenaNet has updated the official Guild Wars 2 site with new information about PvP events for both players and spectators. The slate includes small group PvP battles as well as WvW action, tournaments and much, much more. The site has all the needed links to make sure you're there when the action kicks off for your favorite event.

For European players, every Thursday at 11:00AM PST (19:00 GMT) the Electronic Sports League (ESL) hosts a best-of-three tournament open to any team that wishes to sign up, with the first and second place teams taking home gem prizes. This is a great opportunity to get your feet wet in the Guild Wars 2 competitive scene! Learn more about ESL’s Weekly Cups on our forums.

On Friday, January 24, the European Gw2match.net Champion of the Mist Tournament will be kicking off, covered live in three different languages! There’s still time for your team to sign up – but you’ll have to move quickly! Visit the PvP forums for more information.

    TO bad, i loved GW1 for its PvP- it was so exciting with random pugs trying to get the golden ball for a Guild Hall. I always went back then to international shard and bought it from the winners (mostly koreans) for 33k and sold in in my main shard for 80k. I was one of the first that hitted gold cap ( i think 500k bank) and 250k  in inventory.

    GW2 doesnt provide anything of that excitement. PvP is just a huge mess and boring. They really screwed up big time. I just cant watch people play it. Its also that Engine it uses- 2 many effects spammed in the game. Thats the price of low cooldown and 5 skills- wich uses everyone. Build variety in GW2? Nah.

    If you can't see it in the skill bar it doesn't count?

     

    I have the feeling that many MMORPG.com readers would take a look at GO and declare it superficial, with only 1 type of move and piece and without any meaningless progression.

    Nobody can..... It is why GW2 has no viewers on Twitch and it isn't going anywhere as an esport......

    LOL there's a GW2 pvp "scene"? A terrible boring card game has a thousand times the esport presence that GW2 tried to do

    Again, since my original post was deleted for some strange reason, I want my question answered.  Does being a spectator give xp or anything at all?

    Gw2's pvp in WVW (world vs world) consists of massive blobs of people 40-50 going around flipping empty keeps for points, and trying to fight other blobs while spamming their wave of wrath or other aoe, most likely necro marks.
