Will buying ingame $$ be cheaper than a regualr mmo fee?

I call myself a skilled gamer and assume I can eek out a good start in most mmo's and want to know if buying sesterces is the only way to aquire them ? Can I buy some at the start to get me set up then just earn my own after that and not have to pay $$ if I am capable? I wont mind having to spend 10-15$ a month but any more seems steep.

Buying from RB is not the only way to obtain sesterces. If you have some form of ingame income (famous gladiator, farmer, blacksmith) then depending on how well your venture is going, you should be able to stop buying from RB and live off your income.
