City of Steam: Arkadia has gotten off to a dramatic and colorful start since its announcement. There was a lot of excitement built up around the idea of a steampunk MMO. The launch of the game ended up being something of a letdown. In the spirit of the new year, we’ve decided to give the newly updated version a fresh look. Does City of Steam: Arkadia address the concerns we had in our first review?

This is what happens when a developer listens to their community without any sort of temperance. Extreme easy mode garbage, with absolutely no advantage for putting in more time. I'm not much of a hardcore player myself, but this game went too far even for me.
Plus Mechanist royally screwed over a ton of people who spent good money on the game through the original publisher, with no real response or attempt to compensate them.
A shame, because there are so few steampunk games (read: almost none since Arcanum) out there, and this is the only one in the MMO space which I'm aware of.
AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!
We are born of the blood. Made men by the blood. Undone by the blood. Our eyes are yet to open. FEAR THE OLD BLOOD.

Well, there it is. A game which plays itself for you. I don't know if I should laugh or shake my head in outrage.
I've never been on the "I hate casuals" hate train (I am one--a hardcore casual at most), but I have to admit that an auto play feature which is provided for convenience's sake does indeed give them some ammo.
Truth is indeed stranger than fiction.
Waiting for: Citadel of Sorcery. Along the way, The Elder Scrolls Online (when it is F2P).
Keeping an eye on: www.play2crush.com (whatever is going on here).
Thanks SBFord for the new review of the game, I agree with everything that you have said in the review but think you could have covered much more about the good and bad points about the game.
I had very high hopes for the game back in alpha / closed beta, the the current version of the game has turned it into a very poor pay to win game. Things that was found in dungeons or bought with the lowest level of in game money have been removed and now you have to spend real money to buy the top level of in game money to buy them or anything on their version of the player AH.
Some things that I wish you had been able to do is to level your toon to level 50 with about 30 days of play time to see everything that the game has to offer then based your review on the play plus another thing that MMORG might do is to go through the game forums and see what the players are saying about the game to help get points about how the players feel about the game.
For those of you thinking about playing this or any other games out there, read the game forums for things that the players are saying about it before you decide to play or not.
The only egg event worth playing is the easter egg event.
Main Game: Eldevin (Plat0nic)
2nd Game: Path of Exile (Platonic Hate)
Pretty much... What a disappointing turn of events.

this is just rebranding what R2 left... City of steam was awesome before they struck their hands in to pile of R2 then came beta with everything awesome gone... now with re release its just rebranding of failure. nothing changed towards what alpha was everything that release was is again and even more 5year old casual tailored like than before when it was mere 10y old casuals tailored for.
and its juts proof that to whatever R2 touches turn from gold into pile of ****
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
The premise of this game was very cool. Too bad it became lobotomized cash shop garbage. I was hoping they'd fix some things in the re-release but I guess not?
Someone should take a similar setting and Kickstart a game which would do it properly.
Maybe an Arcanum 2 with multiplayer option?
Am giving it a spin ... must be blind, see no auto-play button
Nvm, found it. You have to set game-style to relaxed ... I was playong on hardcore.
Sorry about that discopete, but was going by the name that was up in the header block with the post title.
As for end game content, I have been leveling slowly and my highest is only level 38, so I have not reached end game content yet.
What I would like to see all game reviewers to do, is do their in game research, score and write up your report. Then go read the forums for what the players are saying both here at MMORPG and the game forum.
Then post the main things they are saying about the game and if doing this made you go back and look at the game closer and if it caused you to change anything in your review.
Also if it caused to change a review score. What was your first score then the new score.
"No incentive for cooperation or socialization"
Have you even played the game? Especially on level 20+?
Grouping helps a lot for harder quests and/or dailies. Especially if you have normal equipment and not top-stats top-upgrade items that probably come with review accounts.

So disappointed to see what it ended up to be
"This may hurt a little, but it's something you'll get used to. Relax....."
I couldn't even get as far as the game playing itself...the tutorial was way too aggressive with pop-ups that kept me from actually SEEING the options screen properly. But I'm pretty sure there's no way to invert mouse controls, which really is a problem. If you're going to allow mouse look, you have to accomodate both styles, or a significant chunk of players will get frustrated looking up when they mean to look down or vice versa.
Like, nice idea, looked fairly good, but I was too annoyed by unalterable interface elements to go past the second room of the tutorial.
