Funcom being investigated for alleged insider trading.

I thought this was interesting, if there's anyone here who plays or has played any of their games before. Hell, it's interesting to any MMO gamer, because I don't think this has happened to a MMO dev company before and I'm curious as to what will happen to their games.

The statement from the Oslo Stock Exchange locks down the period in question: “suspicion of infringement of the provisions of the Securities Trading Act with regards to the financial information given to the market regarding The Secret World from August 2011 until the launch of the game in July 2012 and the two months following the launch”.

This sucks. I always hoped they'd eventually have the sense to create AO 2, with all the twinking, kiting, housing, decorating, and yalm exploration I could ever wish for. Now we'll probably be lucky if the whole thing doesn't shut down on us.

I've actually been playing it again here and there lately. The story is great, but as a solo player I find the gameplay pretty grindy. I imagine it's much more enjoyable for social butterflies, but I will never be one of those.

And they haven't helped their cause with this new lockbox of rng thing everyone is blowing up their official forum about today. Although judging by the mostly junk loot listed by players who have bought them they don't seem all that big of a deal, at least for now. Bad timing much, though? Or desperate measures?
