There is still the opportunity to modify her aspects in the context of the game. In some cities she's married to one guy, in other cities she's married to another guy. In different pantheons she occupies a different role within the pantheon. So maybe she'll primarily be the goddess of family, rather than maternity or perhaps the goddess of the hearth rather than the goddess of love in TESO.
Gorthak, Scourge of the Dragons stood among the burning ruins of the town. Aaarghthpht, so named because those were the last words of most people who met him tossed aside the head that he has recently hewn from the guards body and approached Gorthak. Neither Gorthak nor Aaarghthpht had met before or seen this pit of evil before, but in the midst of battle, bonds of brotherhood are forged in blood, without words.
Gorthak held out his hand. "Take my ring of the Love Goddess. Er, Goddess of Maternity. Um. Yeah." Gorthak looked away, red flushing his cheeks. It was far easier to watch the blood dripping from the house he had covered in severed arms and filled with severed heads than to look Aaarghthpht in the eye. Aaarghthpht for his part gingerly took the ring. "Uh, thanks. There are orcs over there. Um, we should kill them. Evil. Yeah." As they wandered off, carefully not looking at each other, and taking extra precautions to not accidentally touch each others' hands, they each really wished there was a better way to do this.
No one understands the complex relationship between Gorthak and Arrghthpht...

A subset of Tea Partiers might, but I am pretty sure Tea Baggers are totally supportive of gay weddings.

I can see the 60 minutes interview of Zenimax, when half the players of the game are put in jail for cyber stalking minors XD

Forget 60 minutes, imagine the Fox News headlines and the To Catch a Predator special episode.

FOX NEWS ALERT!
Online game turning people gay with gay weddings! Also, Obamacare ate my baby.
I wonder aswell what is the issue, this reminds really on russia....lol.
I am not gay but I really dont care if some are doing a virtual marriage or not and with what kind of race or gender. Next time the SPCA is revolting because Lizards are exploited for a marriage.
I do feel kinda weird performing the ritual of Mara with my nephew.
Maybe being Orcs it will be ok.
LOL. Dwarves I would understand but Orcs?
It's a game guys... and it's also the frikking 21st century. Live a little.
So in the 21st century incest becomes acceptable?
Gee I hadn't even thought about that till you mentioned it... goes to show there's just no way to predict reading comprehension or people's desires to deliberately misconstrue things on the internet.
If you only wanted to respond to the Orc part then you should have edited out the portion about him marrying his nephew. Not sure how else you could interpret what you said based on that quote.
I don't know. maybe the "It's a game guys" part showed that I was now talking to everyone and not still reposnding to the OP...too obscure?
A little bit, but I forgive you because your posts are entertaining.
I want to lodge a formal complaint (the official forums are turned off right now) about the Imperial Edition bonus "Rings of Mara: Complete the Ritual of Mara with a friend and receive an experience bonus when you play together." I get what they are trying to do with the item itself but making them rings of "Mara" adds a lore predicament.
From Skyrim wiki:
"In Skyrim, you have the option of marrying an NPC, regardless of race or gender. To do so, you must complete the quest The Bonds of Matrimony, which involves speaking with Maramal about marriage and wearing an Amulet of Mara which signifies that you are available to be married. Once you have found an NPC who also wishes to be married, and whose disposition towards you is high enough, you can gain their consent to marry you and then attend the wedding ceremony at the Temple of Mara."
I feel like the implications of giving a friend a Ring of Mara is like proposing to them which is not the case most of time time. A lot of my friends started making fun of it, calling it Rings of Bromance, etc. I think the item should be renamed to something that does not involve Mara or the marriage ceremony. I suggest they are just Rings of Fellowship or something less romantic.
What do you guys think?
Sharing my ring of bromance with females only... PM me

Hey. Watch it, buddy.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

ESO is rated M for Mature so OBVIOUSLY there will be NO minors.
I think some people are confused by the intent of this thread, its not about if people want to get married. Its more about wanting to use the exp bonus with a friend and not be asking your friend to marry you to do it. I think its pretty awkward the way they have these rings setup in the lore, attached to the same ceremony as marriage would have. I know this is more of a silly thread than anything and some of the responses really made me laugh. I just think they need a less Bro-mantic theme for the pre-order bonus, if they called them "bracers of friendship" instead of "Rings of Mara" it would not be confused as a proposal, lore wise.
I think it's part of a game created by a team made up of probably 80% males. That team has looked at it decided it's lore is insignificant. After all, "It's just an XP sharing ring, dude!"
Get over yourselves.

On one hand I think that It's just a game, just use it with a friend and that all but in the other hand I think they are breaking their own lore, and I'm afraid it's not going to be the first time.
But if you want to talk about lore, Love is not only a "lovers" thing...
You can love your family, you can love your friends, etc.. Mara being the goddess of love, I would assume it applies to all the different ways you can love someone/something, not just the "sexually attracted" type.

To be honest, I never even put any thought into those rings. It's actually quite funny.
This isn't really an issue, but I do enjoy lore and I can see your point. Though, it's not like ZOS has been consistent with their lore, have they?
No they have not!
This is my take... its not going to take very long until I will want that "accessory slot" for something else so my ring will probably be deleted. Despite the fact that I intend to play with other members of my guild. It may, or may not, be the same person all the time. So creating some "special bond" would be counter productive.
Also of note: These items will not be available to me until April 4th. By which time I should have my main two characters up to a level where items like this will be far less advantageous. So maybe later on when I start to play an RP alt I'll find a character that will play with me consistently enough that this is used. But I'm not counting on it.
And to be honest, this was never an incentive for me to buy the Imperial Edition.
In my opinion it is completely fine to perform the ceremony and give the rings to a same sex friend. But don't then pretend with all this bromance shit. If you are gay you should just come out and say it. Stop being ashamed of who you are, and stand up for yourselves. Who cares what the homophobes think!
(But if you are not gay then you shouldn't be giving another dude a ring.)
