Retrieving and Old Content ID

does anyone know if there is a way to retrieve an old Content ID? I don't really want to start over with a new character when I begin playing the game again. However, I cancled my Content ID a while ago so I wouldn't have to pay for it, but now I want to start back up again.

When you bring up the main FFXI screen. where it says

Tribute maybe...i dunno
stupid other crap.
click content ID.
And, just renew it.
They don't delete content id's for like year of play time. I am guessing.
It should still be there.
