I personally thought it was a great action packed trailer and because I love CGI trailers in general for what they are even if the actual games dont look like it.  And it did get me excited about the game more in terms of giving me more interest in getting to find out about the story and those characters and what happens to them.

Thought their complaints about the ESO trailer were pretty apt.   I felt the trailer was not particularly coherent, didn't tell much of a story, and was kind of 'jerky' in its presentation.   Great CGI though.

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

Have some similar opinions. It almost seemed like it was missing narration that could have progressed a story and exposed some lore. For a game so heavily dependent on lore I'd have expected a more Lotro style story telling trailer.

they didnt mention it that I heard, but the trailer feeds to the Skyrim crowd more than anyone because Skyrim sort of looks like that, so if no one has seen any actual game play footage they might think 'hey its Skyrim online'. Which most internet guys know it isnt..

But this definitely goes to the people who might not know better.

    o.O???

As for the trailer itself, I thought it was cool, albeit a bit long. I agree with the commentators that SWTOR did a better job with their CGI. I just think the characters in the SWTOR CGI have a much more defined personality, which makes it a lot more exciting and interesting.

Yea I do go on other forums and read peoples comment where they dont even realize the series is called elder scrolls instead its just Skyrim to them and they think the next elder scrolls will be called Skyrim 2 lol.  It makes sense though since Skyrim is the most popular of the series and the one to introduce the ES series to many gamers.

I wonder how many people realize this is a continuation of the first long trailer that came out?

At least these guys mention that this trailer was part two of the first one at the start of the video.

When comparing ESO and SWTOR's CGI trailers, I feel that the latter does better in staying true to the actual game and world itself.  SWTOR's trailers incorporate many nods to gameplay (the CGI characters use in-game abilities) and the scenes actually depict important moments that have an impact on the overall storyline.  I can't say for sure but it feels like ESO's trailer is more symbolic, raising questions rather than answering them.  Sure, badassery abounds but, as the commentators touch on, I'll be disappointed if the events don't translate more directly into the overall storyline and player experience.

I agree that the one thing done right in Swtor is it's many trailers. Still, I'd rather TESO be a good game with crappy trailers than a crappy game with good trailers. ;)

Does that mean beta will be lifted soon after the press gets to try beta.  Because thats how it usually goes for most games.

    EDIT: I meant NDA

I always hated when companies used artwork and trailers to show a fake image of the game, that has very small relation with the actual product.

It was ok ten years ago, when games were made out of sprites and the only way to represent a story in a cool way was to make a separate cinematic, but to use it in current games is just pure marketing, and adds little to the game itself.

SWTOR is the worst possible example of this method. When I realized that the cgi trailer is the only place, where characters are realistic, and in actual game they are pathetic, cartoon network, clone wars cartoons, I never felt so cheated by a game company before.

Developers should make trailers that represent the mood and style of the actual game. If the game is stylized, so should be the trailer. This game is just another example of that lie, where the trailer is the only place where you see something so epic. It will only make people expectations higher than they should be.

Nice trailer but it didn't really make me want to play the game, which is the whole point of the cgi.

    First one was better.

I agree while a CGI Trailer looks cool it doesn't portray in anyway on how the game actually looks/feels.

Gamespot with feedbackula also states this (Only reason I am subscribed to them is feedbackula and top 5 mods of skyrim heh)

It's all about the $$ anyway.

I didn't like the CGI trailer because of the overuse of the shaky cam and the lack of storyline. Everyone just started fighting and doing ridiculous things all over the place.

The best CGI trailers would be the ones by Blizzard or the SW:TOR ones. They have in common that there's always some "buildup", they first give you some time to take in the story only to end with a climax.

Their first trailer was much better in that regard.

Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

This trailer is just part two of that first trailer, it takes place right after that ended.  So the first trailer was the "build up".
