Project99 crew is currently interviewing "Braid" McQuaid and the Pantheon devs now on Twitch. See the link below:

Edit: Here's the YouTube link to the interview for those that missed it. Thanks @Buccaneer for sharing the link.

woah, they really are doing everything the can to boost the KS.
won't support them, but hope they succeed nonetheless.
They're raffling off stuff, hurry! First raffle going off right now.
Edit: I think the items being raffled are for Project99, not pantheon.
Just to question the philosophy. Army of Socrates.
One of the things that came out of the interview so far, is the idea of contested content and raid mobs in Pantheon.
Nothing got my adrenaline going more than playing on the old EQ1 progression servers at launch and having to race to get server firsts and having contested content.
Instancing raid content and raid mobs, is a big turn-off for me in MMOs.

If people don't donate they will have to. Have you donated?
People can't be dissappointed if they haven't done anything to help
*shrugs*
Any mmo worth its salt should be like a good prostitute when it comes to its game world- One hell of a faker, and a damn good shaker!
You could look at it that way. But on the other hand, it shows that they are really dedicated to making this game no matter what.
Obviously, they don't want to have to go that route. And I believe they will avoid it at all costs. But if push came to shove and they had no way to finish the game w/o an outside investor/publisher, then they would have to resort to that to make the game.
No I haven't. They haven't sold me on the game yet. I'm one of the people on the fence waiting. The only thing I've heard that I like is that's its similar to old school mmorpg's. I've stated my reasons for not backing it yet before.

What's sad is that people don't understand that if this gets funded they can open up funding opportunities on their webpage, which means the community can still support, which means the more we help the less they need to rely on a publisher. Or just rely on a publisher for things like distribution and not much else. The less a publisher needs to give the less influence they have.
Like the P99 guys said if you don't help you have no right to complain about the current state of mmorpgs. Grab your copy of WoWStar and call it a day.
Bottom line is that there will be no qualified old school team of mmorpg saviors to make this style of game. Brad birthed the genre of this style of game.
Broken Vanguard is still better than most mmoRPG's out there till this day and certainly a better game than TESO.
Contribute, 25 dollars is nothing

Its much better than whining on forums all day about why do modern mmorpgs suck.
Stay on the fence with helping? Well publishers will stay on the fence about backing other types of games like these too..
"Oh but I'm skeptical"
Me: "So 25 dollars for the game and helping out the cause is asking too much?"
Play games
Not forums.

@Ice-Queen you should listen to Brad talk about community and what it means to him and how it is one of their key focuses with the development of Pantheon. Especially in the boogie interview he did on YouTube.
I love a lot of the stuff they've talked about, targeting old school EQ1 players, corpse runs, very limited instances, ect, but the biggest selling point for me is the idea that community and the reliance on grouping is going to be a major focus. And you know he can deliver, because EQ1 and Vanguard had amazing communities if you played those games.
So many new MMO's ignore the need for a strong community, by letting players be able to do everything solo, instances, dungeon group automation, or what have you. You could literally level all the way to max level w/o saying another word to another player in some MMOs.
And that's okay for some people I guess, but to me without community you miss out on some of the magic that makes MMO's great.
I disagree, when you're begging for money for a project on Kickstarter you give it all you got and bust a** every single min of the day to get people excited and give them confidence in your project. You interact with them, let them know they're a part of the project. People don't just throw their money away because you scream out "Sandbox" or "Old School" or they shouldn't. A kickstarter project have to earn that money, not just expect it. Nice to see they changed the original video where they all read a script and looked bored to death though...that's a start.

I agree
So, what's holding you back?
And have you seen the Boogie interview?
And you act like these guys have not made any games before and that they are brand new to this.
What's stopping you from doing it if I may ask. I certainly think their game making track record is about as good as it gets on Kickstarter. So at this point with Everquest and Vanguard and the other games on their resumes what is holding you back?
And I can tell you for a fact that I've been interacting with them alot on the comments section of the KS. There is more than enough information on this game. I have an entire thread listed with over fifty posts about the game itself.
What is lacking for you?

I like some of what I've heard so far, aye. I like corpse running, I like the idea of a smaller community in an mmorpg that isn't trying to make everyone happy. I never played the Original EQ, I played UO/AC1/DAOC, and I prefer old school mmo's to today's. I'm just waiting for the Pantheon team to give me a bit of confidence in them, and more information before I decide. There's probably a lot of people in the same boat with me. When it comes to backing a Kickstarter, for me, they really need to earn it, not just expect it. I'm hoping they do get me interested in backing.

If I back it, I will be backing for 6 people, family and friends. I don't do Kickstarters lightly, and if I'm going to be spending $60-$500 on each pledge(depending on family or friend member), I want to be sure it's what we're looking for completely.

That's fair enough. With anything, there's always a gamble. And you still have plenty of time to decide, and see what new updates they release. I do hope to see you on board.
Thanks, aye plenty of time to see more from them, hope they convince me too.

lol... You just never stop, do you.
So basically...
They've described some game mechanics that are similar to EQ1... and that's all you've bothered to pay attention to. At all.
As for anything else, your fingers are firmly stuck in your ears. The fact that they've described game mechanics that are decidedly unlike EQ1 doesn't matter, because you ignored it. The fact that they've described game mechanics that were common among all classic MMOs doesn't matter... because you ignored that, too. That they specifically cite FFXI on a number of occasions as a reference to gameplay ideas they're developing for the game. Yep, you ignore that, too.
That's basically what your behavior with this game has boiled down to. Consistently.
If the act of cherry-picking details and deliberately mis-characterizing them ever needs a textbook example to refer to, I'm nominating you.
I have not seen that interview. Thanks.

Thanks for linking the Boogie video, guys. McQuaid is nothing like what I expected. He's a super laid back guy who seems genuinely humble.
