MMOCulture is reporting that Civilization Online is 60% complete according to a recent interview with Jake Song and that the game is quickly approaching its open beta phase of development.

The founder of XLGAMES and “father of Lineage” also said that the game is scheduled for its debut test in the first half of 2014.

The idea for the game sounds different. Not sure how it will work out once you put real people into the mix and all the douchebagery that goes along with it.

I'd be interested in this but it's too bad they don't intend it for North American launch.

    My thought.

Also I don't know how could this game work as a MMO, it works fine as a Multiplayer, but I don't see the point of making it a Massively game (see also End of the Nations)

Shouldn't they be selling alpha acces for 100$ right now?

Or they dont have to invite anyone at all for alpha other than friends and family like normally for games.  At least SoE is giving people a chance to get in that early and at the same time the player still has the choice to get a refund.  On top of that people who pay to get in will take the testing more seriously than some free loader who is most likely in it to just demo it and come back on a forum to talk shit about an alpha build.

They aren't. It sounds like an entirely different type of game inspired by Civ. A third person wow clone, where technology advances over time.

Looks exactly like Age of Empires Online... Hope it is different.
