Nop not really... in my case I expect a high quality game because Firor did manage to come up with a very high quality mmorpg in the past as a producer and designer - Dark Age of Camelot.
Setting it in the Elder Scrolls universe is just a plus.
But its mostly because of Dark Age of Camelot that I expect a VERY high quality product. If he has done it in the past, he can sure do it again.
I'd expect it to be as good as the single player titles if not better.
No reason there should be backsteps in the overall experience but I'm not one to moan about general missing gameplay mechanics that wouldnt fit an MMO as long as its fun. I'd also expect it to have good PVP and progression for it to be a good MMO
I'm not a huge Elder Scrolls fan, although I did dabble with Morrowind quite a few years ago. I don't have some of the unreasonable expectations that I have been hearing from the diehard fans about it not being a carbon copy of the IP in MMO form. I am a bit more realistic than that.
I am interested because it seems like an interesting game. End of story, really. I like the realistic graphics, the Dev interviews sound good, I like the DAOCesque RvR design.. Will I pre-order? No. I need to hear some solid reviews and make a judgement call after listening to pros and cons.
So far it looks good though. Looking forward to hearing from both sides when the NDA lifts.
I expect what I expect out of all Bethesda stuff..buggy with mods created by users to actually fix the game Bethesda makes. That pretty much is Elder Scrolls games.

How will you know?
There are no server lists with a population indicator like most games, the server will always feel full because of the megaserver and Zenimax isn't publicly traded, so no listening in on conference calls like we can with NCSoft, EA, Activision etc

Dose that mean you're turning down a chance to see it for yourself this weekend with the 500,000 curse beta keys?

This is my answer as well.
I expect it will be fun for the following reasons:
- i like the lore
- i like the combat
- the dev team group combat demo looked fun to play
- graphics are gonna be nice
So many are dooming this game for failure, or dooming it to free to play. Their calling doomsday, but I don't know why. Most people who have claimed this have not played the game for more than 2 weekends. You can't judge a massive game like Elder Scrolls on that timeframe.
And we all know the doomsayers are playing it every weekend they get invited to.
I'm just glad to have another engaging MMO combat system apart from GW2.

Do you expect something more from this game than any Kickstarter or Indie game you have seen?
Well its triple AAA.. so yes...
In addition, do you expect more from it than any current MMO you are playing, must it woo you?
Nope.
Possibly a subscription plays a role in this and you have vowed to not sub to game without them being exemplary on your own personal scale due to all the free games out there?
If a game plays good, and i'm having fun then i will/have subbed in the past. The moment i am no longer having fun i unsub.
Just for today, do you think you expect more out of this game than others, less, or about the same.
i don't care what others think, My opinion is that the game is going to be underwhelming.
Do you think you judge it more harshly than others or are you agnostic to IPs and not thinking about their former games but go by each offering as a separate venture.
In this particular instance, Yes. I don't believe the game is true to the series in a number of key areas which has tipped my opinion of the game in the negative direction.

Pretty much. After the initial playerbase has seen the game....All of it, and if they are staying or leaving. This game looks to be the most expensive MMORPG box plus sub yet. I'm not against paying more money for a new MMORPG but it better be worth it. We've all seen how 1-2 months after a game releases, the reviews are much different than during a couple of beta weekends.
How many games have wee seen so far, that had awesome reviews during open beta events but shrtly after release people are leaving?
So, I'll wait a month or two. I've got stuff between now and then to play.
I expect high quality out of any game I buy and not just because of their IP. In this case based on IP I would have a expected a PVE oriented sandbox with quests to do with friends rather than an AV3 PVP faction warfare focused game with a PVE leveling component that tries to do single player in an MMO environment. We know how that turned out and it is what it is. Quality is some what an arguable term. I mean I thought FTL was outstanding for a small production value indie game but ended up with a copy of that Aliens Colonial Marine thing which was utter trash in spite of production value.
I don't expect high quality because of the IP. All TES games are extremely low quality, bug ridden, have awkward 'constant skill swapping' mechanics and are always behind the latest graphics quality... with terrible animations and lip syncing. That doesn't stop them from being good games though. TES games are rated so highly because of the sheer amount of content and the freedom to tackle that content in whatever way you choose... and when you choose.
TESO doesn't suffer from most of the problems the other TES games have.. as far as I can tell. But with quality control comes restrictions to freedom... and that's where many might not like it, because of MMO mechanics; balancing leading to non scaling content (makes it more linear). You can't go do whatever you like in whatever order you choose.
It won't matter at endgame.. but there will be plenty of people moaning about it or quitting before they get to that point.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

So I'm reading that you'll play a game if it has a large player base, whether or not you personally enjoy the gameplay. Otherwise what reason would you have to not want to demo a game that you're interested in?
I don't mean to single you out here, and I'm not even referring strictly to ESO, but wouldn't you rather play a game that you enjoy even if it's unpopular, than a game that's popular that you don't enjoy?

What I said is that I'm looking at retention 30 days later. If people stay or leave, there are usually reasons.
I want to see what the game is going to be like at the place where I will be spending the majority of my time.
FF14:ARR was the last game I'll ever pre-order, or even play at release. I thought for sure that was going to be my game. Even after I hit 50 and started my end game progression. It wasn't until after everyone was at endgame that my issues with it started to surface.
The IP matters very little to me as I barely played the ES games (though I've been having fun with Skyrim recently); so I'll judge it just like every other MMO - on its merits.
So far it's looking good, hopefully it'll stay that way.

High quality isn't necessary ..... being Elder Scrolls should however ensure it won't have BS Winnie the Poo stylized cartoon graphics though.
