People are too quick to write this game off because of large raids..
1) Large Raids are ncessarily harder - they can be easier.
2) These raids will likely feature old school WoW difficulty progression - that is the bosses at the beginning will be easier and the later ones will be harder. Thus even bad guilds/pickups will do some of the bosses and just get stuck somewhere down the line. This kept alot of people occupied during BC..
I think this game may actually hit WoW's subs hard. Unlike so many other WoW clones, this seems to be doing what WoW did, but better. The stylized graphics are sharper, the combat more slick. It is adding housing which Blizzard is attempting to answer with their own version. The crafting is a more customizable version of WoW's tried and true system. I think this is less of a WoW clone and more of a WoW v2.0
They are doing what Blizzard did to EQ. And they may just beat them at their own game. I think Anet tried to beat WoW by going the polar opposite route. But Wildstar seems to have everything that a WoW fan enjoys, but better.
The storylines and characters are tounge in cheek and full of pop culture references, the raids seem bigger and badder, exploration is a career path.
I think WoW just may take its biggest subscription hit when this game launches. And I think Blizzard knows it.
Every new MMO that comes out hits WoW subs base somewhat, but they generally go back to WoW. The thing is WS is the first game that they might actually stick around for. I won't call it a WoW killer, but it certainly could see a noticeable impact on their subs #s for a long time.

Watching wildstar, it reminds me a lot of the early WoW. When people thought it was the game.
I do think that wildstar can take the thrown....that is... if it can get past TESO.
Teso is a mmorpg with a lot of RPG stuff. It seems pretty cool. It will grab a lot of new mmorpg players plus single-player TES players plus normal mmorpg players who just want to test it out. So its got quit the fan base.
Its also released before wildstar so if it is good, its just might shadow over wildstar which is a shame if it does.
BUT with all that said, if that game does suck. Then wilstar will take over WoW probably.
My 2 cents. (Its worth $2.74 in most countries.)
TESO? That game is nothing more than the second coming of SWTOR, except even more of a cash grab. It's a single player game you have to pay a subscription for, and that will get old very quickly! In fact, they just announced you have to buy the digital collector's edition to get the full game, and there is a cash shop to boot. TESO is at legendary levels of cash grab greed atm!
I don't think that any game will be a huge threat to WoW especially since WoW will soon have another expac coming out. A lot of WoW players like how that new expac sounds from various forums I have visited (here, official, for example). I think most non-current and current WoW players will buy the expac when it is released even if they are in the game only for a little while after that, so no... I don't see Wildstar doing really long-term damage to WoW. I could be wrong of course, but so far no similar game has ever come close to hurting WoW.
its going to do about as well as Rift has done, which is pretty good. Its just too similar to WoW to pull huge numbers from it. The raiders who have the time and patience will enjoy it for large raids, but Blizzard has already found that large raids really aren't what the majority enjoys.
