I have always loved story in any game that I have played. I love the storyline in FFXIV. My favorite part is when you are breaking the captured Scions out of prison. The couple fights that you had were fun and the way it all played out was fantastic.
My best experience in FF XIV:ARR had to be during the first few days of early access/launch. I had tried for days to be able to roll a character on Midgard to play with my FC mates and every chance I got to try the server was full. Finally after what seemed like an eternity I was able to create my character and join my friends. The first few days really felt so magical with everyone in the FC, the first three dungeons, while easy.. still felt epic. Our first time fighting Ifrit really felt like it meant something. Trying out all the different classes and crafts.. joining a Grand Company and finally being able to ride around on my own Chocobo.. I really treasure my time spent during the launch of the game. I still enjoy playing it not.. a LOT.. but man the beginning left me with memories I will take with me for life.
Favorite Moment was being able to meet odin eye to horse hoof with my lalafell monty mcseeb trying to find him brought back nostalgic memories of playing wheres waldo but with a final fantasy twist and then all of a sudden Im one shot out of no where... <--- meeting odin, facing him, dying to his powerful bad arseness BEST / FAVORITE MOMENT EVAAAAAA you guys know when you saw odin it was your fav moment ever too haha
I remember starting in FFXI with one of my friends from school. He was a warrior and I was a lowly white mage. Having played for a day or so more than me, my friend was slightly ahead. However, he was still eager for me to group with him as his support healer. Outside the starter town Bastok we progressed through the hillside fighting beastmen until we worked our way all the way to a plateau. We could tell this was a boss area by the finality of the clearing, as well as the guards which we had to fight through. My friend was still confident, "we can do this, just stay with me." Making quick work of the surrounding beastmen, we arrived at what was clearly the boss. A beastman caster decked out in the appropriate attire... And standing with what must have been it's leuitenants. My friend charged in, with me following closely at his back. Heal, heal, heal. We were talking on the phone, so I was a little unnerved by his sudden silence, as I watched his health quickly drop. Suddenly I hear a single sentence over the earpiece,
"You should go."
I paused for a second to process this, as I fully realized that my friend was about to die. Yet he held his post. Swinging away to give me time to do the only thing I could... Run.
The line of beastmen that chased me down the hill was impressive, especially since they had all already respawned during our encounter with their chief. When they caught me, my death was quick.
I still have the original PS2 disc. Every now and again I pop it in to watch the intro video. Always got me teary eyed.
The game came to a complete stand still once I encountered this monster. All other objectives ceased and I became obsessed with defeating the beast. I threw my little group against it over and over trying every different makeup of items and spells and combos I could think imagine. When I stopped making progress I would go grind random encounters to gain levels and try again.
I actually stopped playing the damned game for a few weeks because I got burned out fighting that asshole, but I refused to go on with the storyline so long as the Ruby Weapon still lived. I would indulge in taking snowboarding breaks between attempts, but ultimately I would return to the sands.
When i finally managed to beat him, the rest of the game seemed far less important than that accomplishment. He was the first true raid boss I encountered in role playing games. It is a fight I will never forget and I still compare boss fights in today's top mmo's to the difficulty of that fight.

Somebody, somewhere has better skills as you have, more experience as you have, is smarter than you, has more friends as you do and can stay online longer. Just pray he's not out to get you.
I played the beta and have wanted to came back to it ever since. Played all the Final Fantasy in my childhood and as an adult. This game -even thou it an MMO- caries that spirit! Well done!
I bought Final Fantasy VII when I was 13 years old; my first in the series. I basically consumed my life. I just fell in love with the characters and gameplay. As you can imagine, when Aerith died I lost it. Have you even seen a 13 year old openly weep? That was me.. Now at, 31 years old, I still get a bit choked up when I see the death cutscene.
When I first Played FF on the NES I knew right from there it would always be a great game and then when FF 2 hit the Super NES It was crazy how much fun and how the game put the player right in the story and right from there I knew I will always be a big fan of all FF games. Thanks Final Fantasy
Fighting Titan on hard mode for the first time to get my relic. We whipped time after time until we only had time for one more try. I was the White Mage for the party. We got his health down to a sliver as the whole party started dropping yet again (can anyone say dodge?) leaving only myself alive. As he was lumbering towards me to finish the job I threw Aero on him out of desperation and was shocked when he died just inches away from me. We laughed and celebrated and I scored my relic weapons that very night.
The early Final Fantasy throwbacks, like the Magitek Armor mount, the Demon Wall, cactuars, chocobos, and tonberry. I felt that the story and quality of writing was excellent. Also Lalafell. I adore my bite sized Darklight'd Paladin.
After searching and searching for the perfect virtual home, I finaally found it with XIV. I played in 1.0 and amazed and so happy with how ARR came together to make it that much better. I've often thought there should be a documentary about what was accomplished with transforming XIV. No game company has done something like this before, and not only that, you go and save the company itself financially. Yoshida you rock, ty for your work, and all the rest of the team! P.S: Please hire me!
I have so many fond memories of my adventures in FFXI, most of them revolving around Valkurm Dunes.
Starting a new job, leveling up solo for the first 10 levels, then running all the way to the Dunes to party. There was something magical about the journey from San d'Oria to Valkurm Dunes. So much excitement and thrill running through La Theine Plateau to reach the dangerous beaches and vast sands of the Dunes.
it's hard to pick, but I gotta say one of my most memorable moments in FFXIV: A Realm Reborn is from the same day I finally beat Titan Hard Mode. After weeks of trying with premade groups and pugs, me and my friend entered with a couple of guys we got in contact with earlier the same day. After a couple tries, my friend had to leave because of dinner, and I stayed and we kept on wipe'ing. When my friend eventually came back and I told him we were still going on it, he entered through duty finder, got a good group and killed Titan on their first try.....
I did beat Titan with the group a couple of hours later and through the process everyone in the group had gone from strangers to friends, and we kept in touch after that That is something I really have missed in MMO's the last couple of years. Actually getting to know people through in game activities.
I have tons of great Final Fantasy memories. Still my favorite has got to be back around 1990, me and a buddy, just a couple of kids going to the video store to rent something. It was a Friday night and we were looking to geek out playing a bunch of video games. We found this RPG Final Fantasy and that seemed like it could be cool. We got home and started playing... We ended up playing until about 2 in the morning, when my buddies parents decided we had to sleep. The rest of that weekend we played much as our parents would let us. It was all pizza, some soda and FF! Good thing we didn't have much going on and parents that let us waste our time. Anyway, that has led to a tradition of getting the latest FF game and spending (at least) one good buddies weekend with the game and that same buddy and vegging out playing it.
For me if I had to choose my favorite part of FFXIV so far has to be the FFXIII-3 Lighting Returns integration. It was awesome to do some fates with her live in the game with some impressive beasts from that series. With my bard I was able to fight right along side here while telling her of my undying love for her. I would play some of the song buffs that the class uses while typing out my love like I was singing her a melody.
Lol My company mates and I had a good laugh and enjoyed that aspect of the game. The graphics looked impressive, the way she looked was awesome and made it seem like a very natural experience to have her part of the FFXIV universe in the game. Not to mention having the background music from the FFIII series added a depth to the fighting that made it exceptional.
The gear was a plus that we were able to get from that event that made it even sweeter even though it was really only for show and nothing too spectacular. Playing along side of her ingame caused me to go back and play some of the other titles in the series. Especially FFXIII, FFXIII-2 and FFIX. I am very much looking forward to the next 2 releases in the series and honestly FFXIV in its current form is spectacular and should be played by everyone. If you're not in the game you are missing out.
I was in A Realm Reborn's beta test for a few days. My fav part was the character creation. One of the best done systems I've ever seen. I especially loved being able to change the setting for the character, getting different lighting to see your changes by. I still miss my girl with adorable kitten ears. ^.^
So many moments resonate with me when playing FFXIV. All the little things included from some of the other titles in this endearing series, whether it's seeing magitek armor for the first time from FFVI, a dragoon take to the skies wearing iconic armor from FFIV, a moogle from FFVI (where I saw one for the first time), seeing Bahamut from the original FF lay waste to Eorzea in the opening trailer, fighting against King Behemoth from FFIV, seeing races from FFXI again or joining up with Cid again who's exploits cover several FF games in the series. They all add up to a rich experience for any FF fan.

FF X! me running my mouth about group content and having a friend tell me to play this, it had real "group" content. I learned that day what real group content was. One of the best multiplayer mmos ever.

The crafting is good and fun in this game and storyline is awesome!
Garuda was fun but defeating Titan best experience probably. The close calls and team work worth repeating.
FF VII: Ruby Weapon...
