Can you play it with XP?

AmarantharAmaranthar Member EpicPosts: 5,852

I see the requirements are Windows 7. Just wondering if I'm going to need a new comp, or if I can play it with XP.

While I'm at it, what about my video card: ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT ?

Obviously, I'm not real into hardware and all that.

I'm sure you could play it just fine.

Just FYI, Microsoft is no longer supporting XP after April 8th, 2014. Meaning game makers a likely to not list it in their requirements and provide limited support for the OS.

They actually said that you need a 64 bit operating system for it.

Landmark officially requires 64 bit operation system link here:  https://forums.station.sony.com/eqnlandmark/index.php?threads/we-are-a-64-bit-os-game-officially.9497/    furthermore it is a systemhog at the moment so I would read the requirements carefully and they are here: https://forums.station.sony.com/eqnlandmark/index.php?threads/updated-2-4-eqn-landmark-alpha-system-requirements.2160/

You will probably not be able to run it without at least an OS upgrade.

    I've got a 32 bit.

Looking further, I think I'm short on, I think they said you need a 4 quad? I only know vaguely what this is. I thought I had that by looking at the hardware inside control panel. But just now found a listing saying I have a 2 quad  hard drive.

I'm getting more and more certain that this game is going to rock the MMO scene. The "next gen". Not quite as all out Sandbox as I want to eventually see, but as far as tech can take it these days. So, I may just spend the bucks now and give it a shot, knowing that I'll update my comp sometime soon anyways.

I just have to make sure of an investment return before I go ahead with it. With any luck, I might buy TWO! image

I tried  installing it on my backup PC, which is has a core 2 duo 3200 processor and is running Win XP 32 bit. It wouldn't install at all. It started downloading the main files and then stopped, giving an error message.

Admittedly, I didn't investigate whether it was a firewall problem or something as I don't really need it on that machine. I was just curious to try it out.

However, SOE have stated it is strictly a 64 bit game going forward, so I wouldn't risk paying out any money if you haven't got a 64 bit operating system.

You really need to get a new PC, now is the time, and when XP is no longer supported any machine with it will become a hackers paradise.

Oh God no. Not me. I'd probably end up slapping together some things that were never intended to be used that way. And the next thing you know, the Feds are raiding my house in full gear, drone support, and a Blackhawk.

    I'd have my own satellite.

    And then they'd bill me.

    Naaa, not me.

Thank you. I never thought of that aspect.
