It is always sad when an MMORPG is forced to close. Unfortunately for Smiling Gator Productions, that is exactly what the New Year has brought with it. Yesterday, the developers announced that SGP would be closing, and that their game, Twilight War would close with it.
Patch Installation for 1.4.2 - 2006-01-04
It's not a Happy New Year here at Smiling Gator Productions. Unfortunately, the end of 2005 is also the end of SGP. Our committed funds have run dry and we were not successful in the hunt for additional investment. The websites and email will be disabled in the coming days, so this is our last announcement before we shut down for good. Thanks again to our fantastic forums community for all the support and contributions! We hope you find another project and give them the devotion and incisive comments we've enjoyed reading for the past 17 months. For those who are interested, the Twilight War community will continue on Twilight War HQ. |

Whats wrong Wry? One less game to add to your "Play for a week and quit" rotation?

Licensing the Source Engine probably took a large portion of their funds. What is this now, two companies put out of business that used the Source Engine?

Hi everyone,
I run a Twilight War Fansite called Twilight War Headquarters.
As you can imagine we are all pretty shocked and saddened at this announcement! However, we had and still have a very strong community considering and we want to do the very best we can to help save Twilight War.
As the official community is now closed, we have created a discussion forum so that anyone can voice there ideas and opinions. We welcome your input. You don't need to register to post in the forum.

We need as much support as we can get, so drop by and let us know what you think.
Thank you,

Bummer, i thought this one would have been sweet to play. The source engine speaks for its self. It is truly an amazing peice of software. I hope Valve will build a source powered MMOG someday.

/me crosses off Twilight War from it's #1 spot on his "MMORPGs To Watch List"...
/me moves Fallen Earth up to #1
That's really sad news, I only read about Twilight War a few weeks ago & liked the idea of fps combat and the story line was quirky I was hoping to check it out.
Benny.......................................
Bound to happen sooner or later. I still have some faith in fallen earth though.

This is really no big loss. First of all it was going to have psi-magic just like FE does. (yeech)
And it had aliens (double yeech)
It is amazing to me that people who had the mental power to raise enough money for the Source engine didnt have enough brains to do a business plan that would chart their money from start to finish. This wouldnt have been the kind of company that had good customer service if they cant run their company well.
Sure, unforseen things pop up, but any basic finanicial tactician should have been able to chart when the money was going to run out.
What a load of crap, now the people are trying to take the game away from us... What assholes.
