LF Low Maintenance Long Term Game

I'm looking for something with low maintenance and long term focussed. Ideally something that I monitor most of the time, making minor decisions throughout the day that only slowly add up. I want a slow cooker of sorts. Something that isn't distracting, but gives me something to check on, and pay attention to if I want. My neglect shouldn't mess things up either. 

No strict requirements in regard to graphics. Preferably browser or text based. Also I am open to single player experiences.

Any suggestions?

    I would suggest EVE Online and play the Market. Can get rich and only need to see text.

     I guess that is a little too realistic for me, I want something with a little bit more fantasy. And it is important to not be a part of a heavy 3d client.
