The next Living Story update for Guild Wars 2 is set to hit live service on February 18th. To give players an idea of what they will be facing, ArenaNet has released a brand new teaser trailer to pique interest.  Let's just say that things aren't looking very good for Lion's Arch, a city that has withstood some of the most terrifying events in Guild Wars history. Check it out and leave us your thoughts in the comments.

ArenaNet, developer of the acclaimed Guild Wars franchise, today released the teaser video trailer for  the upcoming  living world release “Escape from Lion’s Arch,” coming February 18.  The ominous trailer focuses on the trademark city of Lion’s Arch, a beacon of prosperity in Tyria that acts as trading hub for players. The city has proven resilient to numerous onslaughts by enemy races, pirates, the undead, even an Elder Dragon.  Now, the villainous Scarlet Briar may present this proud city with its most terrifying foe yet.

As the teaser trailer shows, the forces of the sylvari supervillain will soon descend upon Lion’s Arch.  Aetherblade airships, dirigibles of death piloted by the dreaded pirates who now serve Scarlet, loom over the city like birds of prey. On the ground, the cruel serpentine krait and subterranean dredge hunt for prey and terrorize its citizens.  In one grim moment in the video, the famed nautical architecture of the city burns as innocents try to flee the devastation.

While I like what they're doing, the fact that it's Scarlet devastating the city when it has survived such greater dangers only hammers the point home that they really need to shelf the Mary Sue already. That time is almost here, thankfully.

It is live content and lasts at LEAST 2 weeks, possibly longer (They haven't specified)

They're even making a special entrance for people to use for Lion's ARch personal story stuff, since it won't be available.  Lion's Arch will become a PvE zone.

I still think Scarlett is after something under Lion's Arch and not Lion's Arch itself... namely Primordius. I also think that ultimately she's being used by the dragon to help it finish waking up and to free it. Dragons consume magic... a nice blast of magic from Scarlett to kill it (her intention) may be just what the dragon needs.

    Oderint, dum metuant.

She's after the Plant Dragon. I think she's going to awaken him.

    This is not a game.

Why do they have to ruin one of the best areas of the game? WTF?
