The game is designed to be friendly to the weakest player. Imagine a server full of skilled pvp'ers who can handle harsh FFA PVP environments, but unforunately a few carebears are on the server. So Blizzard has to cater to the weakest of players which hurts the players who actually want a FFA PVP world with some item looting from pvp.
It would be nice if we could kill anyone, anytime, anywhere and take non-soulbound items but alas blizzard are a bunch of pansies.
Too many carebears.

What the hell are you talking about ... Go to a PvP server you can kill anyone any time, people who want to PvP all the time do its called battle grounds. How do you think you get rank 14. Also making items soul bound was a smart idea so farmers dont sell every item.
EDIT: Looks like you never played WoW, so where are you trolling from? GW, FFXI, EQ2, runecrap ?
carebear = you can't loot the items from the person you kill
also...not everyone likes the idea soulbound... it forces everyone to waste their damn time to do mc/bwl instead of buying it off the AH when some people have the money. MC/BWL...and your pursuit for epic is the biggest timesink ever....hell, this is an MMORPG, isn't it?
Um...World of Warcraft was designed to be enjoyable without endless grinding. If you want a more 'hardcore' game, you shouldn't be playing WoW. Doing so is like asking for vanilla ice cream and then complaining it's not strawberry.
Go play a hardcore pvp instead then. Uo and Eve are still there I hear. World of Warcraft has never been a hardcore pvp game, they have never said that it would be. Everyone knows this. Harsh player punishment doesn't sell. Simple as that. Hardcore pvp'er? Go play a hardcore pvp game.
You are a pussy, and a stupid one at that. You can't stand the fact that someone can stand up to you and beat you in game. The only satisifaction you get out of playing a PvP game is ganking newbs and taking all their stuff, that somehow makes you feel like a man. And when you can't run around ruining someones game experience you resort to calling them carebears.
Its at this point in the argument that the carebear crying pussy yells out "oh no, you have me wrong, I want to engage in meaningful high level PvP where death carries a penility for death."
Ok, fair enough, maybe you are that kind of person, maybe ruining someones game expereince isn't your thing, maybe you do legitimiatally want to have harsh death penilities. Tell ya what then, the next time you lose a PvP fight destroy all of your gear...make death count, give yourself a penility for losing in PvP....thats what you want, right? A harsh death penility so that you aren't a carebear? Well, do it, go ahead, make a death penility for yourself. Make death count, even if its only in your own eyes, go ahead, destroy that uber leet purples you spent weeks or months getting. Go ahead, be a non-carebear, do it, destroy your own gear when you die, I dare you. Pussy, I know you will not do it, you aren't as hard-core as you'd like to think you are.
There are loot all FFA games out there, rather than being a little bitch and whining about WoW not being hard-core enough for you, why not grow some balls and play a lot all FFA game? Oh, I know the answer....you are a pussy and you can't really handle a mans game like UO. So rather than play a hard-core game thats free of carebears, you'll come to a new game and whine like a little bitch that everybody is carebear.
Go away.
My guess is that Mr. "too many carebears" is a griefer or a newbie ganker. Someone who rolls lower levels then laughs at them when they die. Or challenges them to duels so that when they do, they flag and his buddies roll that person.
I despise players like this but my solution is simple. I ignore them (as in the things they say to me or about me) and pretend that they do not exist any longer. Why ruin my game experience or stress myself in real life by dealing with a person who apparently wants to enjoy themselves by harassing others and ruining everyone else's gameplay to make themselves feel superior. Ooooh, my theoretical 1s and 0s beat up your theoretical 1s and 0s and then I took all your theoretical loot comprised of 1s and 0s!.
/shrug Even at my age I still don't understand why some ppl are like that. Ah well. Such is life I suppose.
Play Old Skool UO before you call it 'carebear' so that you can see what true hardcore pvp is. Trust me. You'll be fighting with grey armor and when you die, there STILL wont be any penalty, and when you kill someone, there STILL wont be any reward.
Trust me, I played Old Skool UO.
The OP probably came from FF11 lol.
Okay, so you cant loot items from people who cares, there is a million better items out there in raid dungeons that you can get that are way better than your average joe schmoe walking along and suddenly gets ganked out of the blue. If you were to lose an item every time you die in pvp that would be unbelivbly ridiculous. Going into instance dungeons for weeks upon weeks to get one item and it finnally drops for you, then some gank bus comes along and kills you and gets sulfus the hand of ragnarok.
Think about what your posting before you post it Burningpain.
most games are now. not many games have the guts to be like a shadowbane or an old school ultima online
For World of Warcraft Cheats, Exploits, and Hacks
most games? like what... name one current top mmo that lets you loot peoples bodies when they die in pvp.
Wow, seriously? I can get into a BG INSTANTLY with no queue? That's practically as good as world pvp! I can kill people on my own faction, at ANY TIME?! WOOOOW.
By the way, even if, by "anyone", you mean anyone on the opposite side, that statement is untrue. The contested/horde/alliance territory system is the stupidest thing since penalty-less death.
Grinding humans for rank is the same thing as grinding mobs for loot.
The game is carebear, and the fact that idiots like you are the majority is why.
EVE.
I still think people should actually play a hardcore game like Ultima Online before talking trash. In Ultima Online, when you die, you lose whats equipped. So, obviously, no one equips anything good. There are no PVP rewards
Still a great game but everyone thinks you will be able to loot a full epic set (lol)

Ok, well maybe we like this game and that is why we play it. I apologize for not being on your enlightened level. Hey, I have an idea. From now, when I want to play a game, I will make sure YOU like it first, that way I will know if it is ok to play it or not, since you are god.
I don't recall saying I ever disliked the game, nor do I recall calling myself god.
I have two level 60s. No, I don't use this as proof that I "kno more den u st00pid nubs wif 1 lvl 60 lolz", but I do use it as proof that I enjoyed the game more than a little.
In fact, the carebear issues are really the only issues I have with the game. I happen to enjoy raiding.
Seems like a good thread to ask this question...
If I enjoy Shadowbane and DAoC PvP (Shadowbane moreso) I probably shouldn't even try this game then, huh?

These hardcore FFA Pvpers, lol, they make me laugh good. They seems to think the only way to do it is FFA. MMORPG have evolved you know. Guys like you make me think of that :
Me Hardcore, Me Strong, You Weak, You Carebear, You die.
AH, you want to gank! Yet another person that has to take shots at a sportsmanship like system because he can't kill a guy for his sneakers...
- Scaris
"What happened to you, Star Wars Galaxies? You used to look like Leia. Not quite gold bikini Leia (more like bad-British-accent-and-cinnamon-bun-hair Leia), but still Leia nonetheless. Now you look like Chewbacca." - Computer Gaming World
hardcore FF players do not care much about immersing themselve in a fantasy world or story line, I'd say from the comments I have read.
As such I dont really understand why those people play MMORPGs and then complain about community-relationships, caring about other people and fairplay.
If I want to test my skill against other people I go play DAoC...
Everyone is the same level, has access to the same stuff and it is focused on team play - the only important thing is skill and experience.
But then again - reaching cap level in daoc and get good gear takes time and is certainly nothing for someone with a low attention span and no interest in team play, storyline and fantasy content.
I think there are enough (niche) games outhere for the FFA crowd^^
Maybe I am a carebear - But I have lots of challenges in my real life, a beautiful girlfriend, friens, hobbies - and I play computer games for fun, to relax - and certainly not get griefed, flamed and cheated by some pimpled 16 year old with mental issues or - even worth - grown ups that need to compensate RL issues in games.
Well, that - of course - does not applay to all FFA geeks, but certainly to some - at least one gets the impression from their behavior on these boards.
Take your generalizations and shove them. Making personal, generalized attacks on a group of people in an effort to prove your point, only proves that you're pathetic.
Calling everyone who wants to FFA PVP a griefing pimple-faced 16 year old is foolish at the very least.
Some of us would rather create our own politics and LIVE and be IMMERSED in the world via guild-vs-guild combat without communication restrictions a la WoW. Being able to do what we want means we don't care about immersion?
EDIT: To make it clear, my point is that we create our own story rather than following a pre-written one, which is much more immersive.
Yeah, okay.
Anyway, what was this thread actually supposed to be about, again?
