On one hand I feel this game has features which were rightly dropped 10 years ago and is dated.

On the other hand I feel this game has features that were dropped 10 years i really want back.

Not sure how to feel really mixed.  Combat and world build is subpar but immersion mechanics seem pretty nice.  Rather old school MMOish,

Actually, I know just what you mean.  For a new game it does feel sort of old-schoolish and although I might be alone in saying this, while the game resembled Oblivion/Skyrim in look and overall ambience, the combat reminded me a lot of Guild Wars 2.

The game is OK, if tending a bit towards average rather than great and if it wasn't for the extortionate box price I could see myself buying it and subscribing for a few months.  I'd be far more satisfied with a 4 player co-op mode for Oblivion/Skyrim though.

If people want the immersion of skyrim in an MMO the only way to do that is via old school systems.  There is no god mode in an MMO.

what's wrong with the box price....every new game that comes out is the same price nowadays......

Your rational perspective is angry because it already knows what you are buying into

Your emotional perspective cant wait to experience and possibly fail. And here in lies your cellular memory for addiction.

I love the fact itll give me the feeling im back in time coz i miss the old days and i am sick and tired of easy unchallenging themepark mmorpgs we've been serviced since the age of wow. More and more mmo companies are going back to how it mmorpg's use to be before wow simply because the themepark model is unsustainable and aparently the older mmorpgs sandbox style were.

I love how eso is slow leveling. I love how eso pve can be risky if you get adds. I love how eso will have public dungeons. I love how crafting is actuallly part of the game instead of something thrown in and be useless in no time.

Im sure many will bitch about the public dungeons coz itll be harder to get loot. Well how about you dont get everything thrown in your lap lol ! Itll rock and give you a chance to get to know people instead of a lfg tool and warp to some instanced dungeon, do your run, receive loot and repeat.

Ive had enough of all that instanced crap where they throw loot at you left and right for doing nothing but follow a set trail. Yeah eso will be themepark too but at least itll give you some freedom and encourage you to explore to find quests .

For me eso is a Delight and i cant wait to play it.

Itll be a blessing to for once not have to watch cooldowns lol.

Actually there is only one newish ingredient missing... Adn thats a more dynamic world...

for the rest i love the mix of old school mmorpg and single player rpg....  If they solve the instancing problems as described in the treasure maps video, and improve the annimations just one little tad more.... Its golden.... A masterpiece to enjoy

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Back to the future. I too was pleasantly surprised by the feel of it, no mini map, no node markers. I actually needed to check the map to find out where things were and then saw the animation of my character actually checking the map (which was a nice touch). I expect they will add some of those things later as it dumbs down, like all other mmos, but for now it was a refreshing (retro) change.
