So I saw when at the character selection screen there is an add-ons option.
What do you guys think this will include?
I'm hoping like hell it isn't like WoW's add-ons..
Comments
I was wondering the same thing and have not seen anything mentioned.
The game runs some form of sandboxed LUA interpreter for the addons (pretty much like wow).
One of the developers mentioned that the UI will be fully moddable. I don't think there were any official discussion about any specifics beyond that, but i think a model similar to wow is a fair guess.
You know that you don't have to use them if you don't want to right?
For every person on this forum who says they don't want addons, there are 10 people who do.
im not demanding that they dont add those types of addons. I stated my opinion about them in a TES game and of course i wouldnt use screen clutter addons in TESO. But of course if they add them then people who like it will use it. Your answer is correct, but you used it on the wrong post.
There are no cooldowns in TESO
I highly doubt they will allow mods to mess with skins/models like skyrim mods, pretty much no mmo did that.
Also it's your screen - you can control how much stuff you want there... that's kinda the point of modding.
Yes, but it'll be limited to UI:
WILL ESO BE MODDABLE?
To a limited extent, yes. Since many players look at the UI as something they want to mod, we've added LUA functionality for modding the UI in The Elder Scrolls Online. This will be available to PC and Mac players.

Ultimate skills have cooldown.
There is a separate small beta happening for interface add-one using Lua.
I'm not linking the site I got this from because it seems to have links to old NDA breaking videos. But this is accurate and not under NDA:
In terms of addon support Elder Scrolls Online are going with LUA addons. LUA is a wide spread programming language often used by MMO games to allow players to create their own tools and addons. If you have MMO experience you have probably played World of Warcraft. This MMO also uses LUA which allows for the creation of many useful and diverse addons. We expect to see just as many useful add-ons for ESO that will help players throughout the game. We plan to host the top addons from different developers and provide a one-stop page for all your addon needs.
What kind of addons will be supported by the game?
Maria Aliprando, one of ESO devs, has confirmed that the UI of the game is fully modable for LUA scripting. That means, if you have enough knowledge you can create different tools such as Damage Meters, Healing Over Time meters, tools for crafters, raiders and other useful programs.

I am most likely going to be getting this on PS4, do you think it will have add-ons as well?
I can't see how they would work but just though I'd ask in case someone already knows the answer.
I'm of the annoying school that just uses the game I bought, no more, no add ons, no macro's
I have never used add-ons in any MMO i play. I have no interest in it. I play the game the way its designed to play. I hear people talk about some of the addons and stuff and that would completely ruin the game for me and not make it any fun.
I knew there must be others ;-)
I just get told that you can't be a good player without them as you can't work out your damage etc etc and to be honest as long as the mob dies and not me, I don't really care what it was .. I DO care about how the effects looked, how it made me feel casting them etc
I used to group a lot but after mmo population leaned towards numbers over fun I leaned towards soloing as then I had whatever I wanted and no moaning as to my choices and then comments on what I should get rid of.
They don't, they are resource based same as other skills they just use a different resource. There are even passives (listed on tamriel foundry) that improve the rate you build up "ultimate points"
MOD's and ADD-ON's!
I'm guessing something like EQ2interface mods to mod your interface how you want and modify your maps how you want.
This also is probably why they left the UI so bare, they plan on having a lot of people using UI mods and add ons.
Someone on reddit mentioned that they wanted numerical pop-ups of the damage they're dealing, like in WoW. I won't be using that addon myself but I'd imagine it will be pretty popular once it's coded.
EDIT: Also a minimap

You know, I never found investing my time in a group and wiping over and over because a couple of people could not fill their group roles to be all that fun. Maybe it's just me though......
Seriously though, I'm all for having fun, and I'm not suggesting that people need to min/max, but if you are playing in a group, I think you also owe it to the people you are playing with to contribute your part, if you can't do that, then it isn't fun for anyone. Do it without meters, or certain spec's? Sure, no worries, as long as it get's done.

You both do have valid points. WoW was a good example of add-ons gone too far and people "leaning" on them to gauge a player before they even do a group activity.
I wouldn't mind the non combat utilities like a mini map or crafting tools. But anything that takes away from the immersion of combat, especially a TES game, I will not be using.
