So I've bene trolling these boards for a while, and everyone seems to be saying "I'll play a ranger!" And personally, I'm trying to figure out what is so cool about rangers all of the sudden? Is it because in D&D they could dual wield and everyone wants that, or is there some movie that made a certain ranger look cool that I'm unaware of?
Peronally, in a game like Hero's Journey, I'd expect to see many more would be Paladins around!
So, whats the deal with rangers?

It's all personal flavor, chief.

Oh. My. God.
Personally I have always played as a Ranger. The archetype always appealed to me (even BEFORE Lord of the Rings) and I love ranged support combat... also taming is a huge plus
I've never really been a ranger fan. I'm more of the theifly type.
