For anyone wanting to join Flyff...DON'T
Their database was stolen around xmas 2011.Gala-Net doesn't have the decency to officially announce it to their dedicated players and the service is like a 3rd world country.Rappelz,their other game has people being hacked hourly and Flyff is a daily occurance.What people don't understand is that when a database is stolen..all their personal info including RL name,address,D.O.B,email and creditcard/paypal details are known.A lot of kids play this game as well as adults and they can't comprehend what is happening.
I have learnt that their ant-hack patch GameGuard gets into your rootkit system and relays everything that you have done on your computer back to Incanet,why does the patch come up as a virus,why does it screw up all other programs on your computer,why can't Gala use a more secure anti-hack?
I have reported the company to the ACCC as I'm in Oz and can't report them to the US FTC and I have also contacted the California AG but need more help from players as there are only a handful of us and also help into where to take it now and to who.
The game itself has gone downhill with all the nerfs and going from an F2P to a Pay2Win as a lot of players like to call it.The game has turned into a CS based game,buy Gpots to get anywhere in the game.If your a noob make sure you have a lot of money or you will fail in the game.But as the database is gone don't even bother.

Gala sold the database to a perin site like flyff gold *coughcough hence the name change this week.The theory is that they sold the database to a perin site because these sites are making money from players who buy from them and the deal with Gala is a share in the profits but with a clause...Leave the creditcards alone take anything you want...Sooo everyone is getting hacked losing all their money and sets:

In turn the players can't make their money back or the GM's are using the one time restoration policy which is BS whilst players to wait which can take up to a year to get your equips restored,anyway,in turn they either pull out credit cards for cash shop or buy from the perin sites which makes them more profit thereby the hackings go around and around.Flyff announces major maintenence 2 to be exact to upgrade server migration for better play and security.There is still major lagg and people are still getting hacked everday.
Summary: Don't play Flyff as there are better games out there with less issues,Flyff needs to be sued and reported for all the false advertisements,lack of service,lack of security,installing spyware to play and for having a compromised database,which by the way is updated by the so called hackers in conjunction with Flyff updates thereby rendering all new passwords ineffective.I know I'm going to get reamed by dedicated Flyff players and I don't care..People need to know,parents and kids need to know before they even invest a cent into this game.

Ah Gpotato does it again, anything they touch turn this way ive seen it in allods. If a f2p publisher deserves to get black listed its them. Personnaly ive lost faith in aeriagames,gpot and frogster another good reason i dont invest in f2p games until i see positive change.

At the moment on Flyff forum we have a GM that's wants everyone to post their tickets ID etcetcetc,not that it will do anything..LOL to Tanza GM as it seemed his original posting was moved to general...

So sad to see my fave GM go..again..hugs to LyricMoon who jumps ship everytime the hackings get too much but still I wish people would read the forums of the games they're going to join,very insightful..
Also finally got my replies from Cal. AG and the ACCC..hopefully they will investigate Gala and *crossing fingers* shut them down
I hope so too its about time they get treated like any other company. About aeriagames it was mostly bad in Shaiya the CS is very p2w with potions that make you crit 99% of the time etc i havent had problems with hackers but i know Gms dont do sh*t about those who break the rules.

The hacking in flyff has been going on for ages, though, it really started after the database was stolen.
Also it's really sad to see promising games turn into garbage only because Gala-Net owns them.
Gala-Net is nothing more than a company that's out on money and money only. Neither the new GM's or Dev's listen to what the players want. If they did so, the game would've been MUCH better and people wouldn't actually quit because they got hacked or because the game got boring.

Can someone explain to the IT Cyber Secuirity Specialist (me) what he means by "my rootkit system"?
Windows of any version does not come with rootkits.

Stolen: an incident wherein the original is removed/deleted/moved without express permission of the owner of said original.
Are you telling me my character that has never once been hacked, ever, is deleted? That is was stealing a database would entail; to copy and then delete the original database off of the Flyff servers.
Cyber Security Tutorial note:
Rootkit = Software that hides itself from the user
Usually this means naming the proc exe as a well known program.
Relays everything you do on the internet does ≠ Rootkit or Virus specifically, This is Keylogger and/or Backdoor
There can be a malware that does this and is also a rootkit, virus. That complicates things so why say it like that?
GameGuard does not come up as a virus it comes up as "Malware". Not the same thing.
The genre of software GameGuard falls into is a local proxy/traffic monitor. It is not an anti-hack (although it is a protection software; and they advertise it as anti-hack.) It is a online authenticator. Offline authenticators are like Battle.net Auth or SQEX Software Token or SWTOR Auth, etc. The difference is that online auth does not protect your login info at all,. What is does is generate a token, (usually in something quick like md5) of a random string (which is grabbed from C++ using ran) and then handsoff that token to the server to say "GameGuard ran successfully" the server will ack this and thats it!
Thats all it does!
GameGuard protects and serves gameguard. A good side effect of this though is that the data remains untouched for the most part, because gameguard will not run if Flyff files are tampered with.
One last thing there is a nuance difference between... Nevermind ADHD sucks...
