First of all, you're making a huge mistake by assuming the NA version of RF Online is going to be dictated to by what the other versions are doing.
Prime example here. MAU nerf? The closed beta hasn't even started yet for us, none of it exists fpr us. Basically, you're forgetting the finer points of the license agreement Codemasters has with the game creators. This is exactly the type of thing CM has the power to adjust, tweak, and monitor on their own. Therefore, you can't really make any assumptions as to the power of the Bellatio or the MAUs.
i mean in current betas i read/hear that bellato's other classes ( beside mau ) are all much weaker then the opposing realms ( like melee / ranged ) anyways i kinda wrote the above post crappy sorry hehe it is 3:30 in the morning
i just think bellato is going to be the underdog ect ect
Right. In other betas. But I don't think that opinion is very recent depending on which one you're referring to anyway. The MAU was recently buffed for the PH version.
Mainly, the jist is that MAUs are fairly nasty when first aquired and it takes a little catch-up from the other sides. Whinning results in some nerfs, but with overcompensation the MAUs don't fair well at level 50 on a playing field with well-developed enemies. Thus, rebalancing. All the growing pains of a game with a few developers with poor forethought.
In response to the edits...eh. Unless something hideously glaring arises, such as a complete and utterly underpowered side universally, you shouldn't have to worry too much. Just remember that Cora and Accretia also have trump cards like the MAU and therefore it would seem illogical to make their regular classes more powerful than the Bellatio for that reason alone.
Cora-Summons
Accretia-Launchers
Both racial perks that are restricted to a specific class, like the Bellatio MAU.
The Philippine version got a MAU nerf due to an overwhelming population of Bellato MAU drivers. The nerf was done in order to do 2 things: 1) Entice bellato users to swap to another class (or race) and 2) balance the mid-game transition since open beta had a lvl 39 cap.
Some reactions were thrown out wherein some of the players suggested that only certain MAU upgrades should be nerfed and not the whole unit, but we're currently surviving with it. Similarly, RF-Japan had a nerf on the Cora summoners due to overwhelming population to that particular class.
With the NA/Europe launch of RF, I do expect people to jump around classes until they determine which fits their playstyle. There will be a lot of modifications specific to this version as population sizes would vary, but in the end, the purpose is to bring balance to the game

True on the PH note, I should have waited to post after sleeping.
I think population control is a nasty way to justify game adjustments. Some could say Blizzard does the exact same thing with WoW.
yeah, they do, and so did NGE SWG with jedi, they were stupid after that. People shouldnt be penalized because the idea of being a certain class is appealing. Being a mech pilot is COOL, no matter who you are. Sure, being a gigantic robot is badass too, but piloting a mech is just so awesome you cant resist. However, it seems as though a regular bellatio class couldnt stand up to much , seeing as how the accretia look to be as big as an MAU, and since the bellatio dont have uber magic skills (i find the idea of a little bellatio trying to take on an accretia with a sword pretty funny myself) it doesnt seem like they could do anything against one of those behemoths if they DIDNT have a mech to pilot.
thats what i was originally trying to state, accutia is melee, and will always dominate melee, cora is dominate with magic, so why would you be bellato fighter or caster, when the other 2 realms are more powerful at each, that leaves you with mech pilot or ranger class.
which will probably result to a nerf to the mech pilot class US version because thats the only class people want to play bellato for, that or possibley hidden soldier. just my oppinion though like others have said its not out yet for beta testing US so who knowns but imo bellato is going to most likely the weakest.
I'm sure that Codemasters will be keeping tabs on population on all races. Bellato is a very popular class over all. They do have the benefits of both Accretia and Cora. Should gamers overwhelm a server with MAUs, then I'm sure they're going to get nerf'd like all other versions of RF. My only advice is, wait and see what happens. But judging by all other versions, Bellato's are slightly over powering and will most likely be nerfed.

I must agree, if something is nerfed just because too many people are it is worse then nerfing something that was overpowerfull in the first place. I mean come on, an MAU in the end is just a way to ware down another player before getting out and doing the same potion potting the enamy is doing but you have the advantage of not having to waster your first 50 or so... Even GM's should understand that. Not the games fault so many people want to drive a mech, say 50% are from Gundam related inspiration too, not its fault.
But god, thats going to be one annoying nerf thats going to get bellato abbliterated.
"Just because there are other colours to use in chat does not mean you have to use them..." - Please follow
They should just make piloting a MAU really hard to get, if you make people work really hard to get them, less people will use them, and it will be easier to deal with, like make it some rediculous thing where you have to do a bunch of hard quests to get mats for your first mech, or you have to do a bunch of faction quests to make your commanders let you pilot a MAU, plus you have to pass some rediculously hard MAU piloting test or something.
I agree that if the server gets overrun by MAUs, something should be done, because having all one class is lame, especially if you are one of the people who REALLY wants to be that class, but you dont really want to anymore, because then youll just be "another mech pilot".
That said, maybe ill end up going accretia, whats their special class, some awesome gun dealy? I hear those dudes are pretty dank.
Their special class really isn't one at all. I may be totally wrong here, but the last time I checked almost all of the Accretian classes (maybe all?) could choose to use launchers.
But yes, I guess you would be right if you were referring to the big one.
Here is a zany idea though. Just make MAUs as balanced as summons and those large turrent launchers. And in the end, it won't be completely balanced anyway when you consider that the application of any game power prevails over any intended use. For example, you could make the Accretian super turrent really, really, really strong but it would only result in superior defense, being an immobile object. A ton of game programmers and developers fail to recognize the applicable and "real-world" use of things and that typically junks up a system.
I reference the WoW paladin as a good example of this problem. The developers are completely satisfied with how the class operates but in real application it fails in several ways due to the slanted PvE nature of its abilities in PvP battles.
But damn, if mechs were going to be such a huge problem they should have just let each side have mechs and given Bellatio something else to play with like more model types. This "problem" is easily forseen by anyone with even an ounce of geek blood.
Originally posted by GGGvfun it is too early to discuss this since it is not on release yet, however, according to other websites and forums, I heard its game balance is approaching in pretty good shape, when their populations are similar.
I seriously second that, I played in Korean/ Thai/ Philip and Japanese version of RF. And as far as I know..the game is surely balanced. It's kind of Bullshit saying that Mechs are overpowered. No matter which version you play the Mech will cost over 1 mil+. And that's kind of alot >.<.
The factor that has influence on the outcome of the one day war are not the numbers. (Usually) But the strategic play of each faction's leader. Trust me, any wall can be taken down. Depends on how you do it :P.

Well, yes every class can use the launcher but only two classes can attach seige kits to the launcher to make it seem really big (it increase the range and fire rate but makes you immobile). The Ranger class uses it to do serious damage and the Specialist class use it to debuff enemies.
