A recent post on Reddit points to changes that cropped up on ESO's Long-term Beta Test Server (PTS). The starter islands many players claimed were boring are now optional, collision detection is in, and much more.
Collision detection with NPCs just got put in.
You can also now skip the starter islands and go straight to the first city in your area. You can port back to starter islands if you want.
Mob difficulty increase slightly starting at level 5.
Buffs and nerfs to class abilities
Fixed an issue where many abilities were not properly obeying line of sight rules.
Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

They need to get rid of that starter zone that you have to break out of prison. The islands were OK but the prison was lame.

no way! those last two rooms where you free the prophet and the room where you take the portal are filled with urns and chests. How else am I gonna get fully stocked on provision mats, recipes, racial tomes and 30+ lock picks?
The collision detection is going to wreak havoc with people riding horses in certain towns.
Many, many places to get stuck and jammed up. I was pleased to see that there *wasn't* CD, now.. not so much.
Starter *island* not *prison escape intro*
You can still pillage all the urns, chests, boxes, and crates while escaping.
I ended up with 39 picks on my new Imperial. Beat that
right, I quoted someone saying they wanted to get rid of the prison escape
It also sets up the player story and takes all of 10 minutes to complete.
Yeah I agree with this, but I think with the starter islands it really depends on what faction you are playing...

This is all fantastic news.
I especially am enthusiastic about the addition of collision detection.
Yeah but I kind of hate the single player style backstory. I actually like the islands though
Really nice update.
I really like the mob difficulty increase, the option to skip and go back to starter areas and definitelly love the collision detection on NPCs. I would love it even more if they add collision to players as well. If that happens I would buy into their any race/faction scam and buy the game before launch.
Im OK with the prison tutorial thing only because i got to know Lyris Titanborn and i am looking forward to save her on the main storyline. The story is interesting and i want to know more thanks to the tutorial. But i admit it could have been a little shorter and more straight to the point.
Maybe an option to skip it as well would be nice after doing it with the first character.
I has to agree with VooDoo_Papa I found a lot of stuff in that room.
The LOS thing is important too. Nothing breaks immersion more than shooting backward through yourself with a bow and hit someone you have turned your back on.
BTW not all the starter islands are boring. If you play a breton/redguard/orc then the starter island has challenging quests and even investigation TSW style quests where you have to figure out the clues yourself.
The nord/dark elf starter zone on the other hand is incredible boring and the dominion one feels fragmented and inconsistent without a reason to get involved.

Islands are easy you want those skyshards don't you?

It's amazing that people like to skip their hated content. It's not surprising if WoW's level 90 jump will sell like hot cakes.
I want it now!
Sorry but thats exactly one of the things that make MMOs fun to play..it adds a little bit of sandboxyness
I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them
Oh, man, ESO is becoming so nice... but I don't want sub any game anymore. Sub sounds like you have to play the game, and I don't like it anymore, don't have time either.
I think I will stay with my Steam games...
It says in the article collision detection with "NPCS" so i doubt there will be any jams in towns, it just means that you won't have people running ontop of characters you need to talk to.
