Top 10 expansion features

Lord.BachusLord.Bachus Member RarePosts: 9,686

We all know that the release is just the first step of an MMOs life. An MMO is an evergrowing world... So here is the question, what features would you love to see added over time...  Everyone is allowed to add their top 5...  Number 5 getting 1 point and number 1 getting 5 points..  I will add up the results and compile a top ten list based on your input..

1. Skilltrees and skills (24)

2. Player Housing (21)

3. PvE Areas (14)

4. Justice/jail system (12)

5. Guild Housing (8)

6. Darkness falls (8)

7. Breakable armor and weapons (5)

8. Crossclass skills available (5)

9. RP only server (5)

10. Chat Bubbles(5)

(based on post 1 to 19)

------------------------------------

below is my personal top 5 list

1. More skilltrees and skills

2. More new pvE areas with quests and shards.

3. Housing which gives people a reason to visit someones house.

4. eSO construction set that allows people to build questchains and dungeons

5. New PvE areas that are open for Pvp,,, with both pve and pvp quests

those are my 5 wishes... What are yours?

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

    1. Let me dream...

Rpg only server with locked FPP view

        yeah... that would be something

    2. Breakable armor/weapons upon death

    3. Exhaustion (sleeping or food system would be great)

    4. Taming, maybe herding (non-combat semi-crafting activities)

    5. Player made dungeons

  • immodiumimmodium Member RarePosts: 2,610

Have to agree with the new skill trees and skill. Classes also.

I'd love to see areas of Nirn where you can only go as a group. I don't like how the solo player gets to see everything in most MMOs worlds. It does water down the sense of adventure for me. The group content is mostly instanced or scalable in todays MMOs.

Expansions that are just adventure zones will be great.

    1.  Justice and consequences - thieving, murder, jail, reputation, etc.   (At least for PvE)

    2.  PvE sieges.  (

    3.  Dynamic and bigger Dark Anchors (similar to rifts in Rift)

    4.  expanded group size and new PvE dungeons for it.

    5.  Skill mechanic for crafting (something to make crafting require actual skill as opposed to hitting 1 button to make an item, kinda like lockpicking, but more elaborate).

    1)  A way to gain specific skills from other classes.  Not a full blown cross-class spec but a way to pick them up in the latter game.

    2) Guild Housing (player housing was going to be here but honestly I think having a place for the guild is more important

    3) Player Housing (and a reason to have friends over, i am thinking special crafting tables obtainable through the game)

    4) Updated crafting mini game.  Nothing too crazy like EQ2 but something that requires me to pay attention

    5) Wolf mounts.  I dont want a lot of mounts in the game, like WoW, but i think a wolf mount would fit the lore and be amazing.

I'd like to see a nice solid professional launch followed by some extremely positive reviews that actually convince me that the game is goin to be worth such a high price point and not be a ghost town ala GW inside a year, before I get carried away with talk of expansions.

Plus don't forget a lot of the types of things you guys have detailed in your replies will be available in the cash shop going forward so you may not need to wait for an expansion. I predict a more ala carte model a bit like SWTOR where you can pick and choose the components and content you want via purchase in the cash shop.

Can I just clarify one point that seems to have totally passed me by?

There is no player housing in ESO? I ask as I see it mentioned in the thread so am I assuming correctly there is no player housing in ESO currently?

Despite player housing being such a "big thing" in traditional ES games? Not sure I can believe this!

    1. Player Housing

    2. Arrows are something you have to buy, not this ridiculous bottomless quiver thing they have now (This is high for me because it really takes me out of the immersion)

    3. Justice/jail system

    4. PvE Areas

    5. Breakable armor and weapons

Lord Bachus, i like every feature on your OP but i think it was more acceptable to add those things over time back in early 2000s. In 2014 those features should be launch features. Arent we paying for that too? IMO. At least some of them.

  • Dax360Dax360 Member UncommonPosts: 21

    For me it'd have to;

    1. Skill trees/skills
    2. More areas of the world (specifically places I've not been able to visit in a modern TES game such as the Black Marsh)
    3. Meaningful Player Housing
    4. Meaningful Guild Housing
    5. It has to be a justice/jail system (Though I hope they put this in around the same time as the Thieves Guild)
At the moment things like Player/Guild housing is top 2 on my personal listing for things to be added asap because I have enough skills and areas to explore to keep me more than happy for a good while yet. But if we're talking expansions, then we're talking about 2 years down the line and by then we'll all want more places to explore and more skills to sink our teeth into.

    1. Chat bubbles.

    2. Housing.

    1. Darkness Falls like massive PVP/PVE dungeon in Cyrodiil.
    2. Battlegrounds for sub-50 tiers (NOTE: BGs are NOT scenarios...I mean 24/7 persistent ones like in DAoC)
    3. The Night Mother
    4. Guild House/Shops in guild-built houses in Cyrodiil - destructible
    5. More classes

Not really Rojo, if they would have to add every feature at release, these kinds of games would never get finished.

Since MMos are growing enteties its in my opinion okay, even a must, to keep adding stuff to it after release.. and possbly at a higher rate then current MMO´s .... WoW should be ashamed for the rate at which they push new content.. And while GW2 has a whole program of pushing new content, the living world content is not enough to keep people playing... they only add grinds and timepits...

Games need to add more things that people love to play... new zones, dungeons, adventure zones, but also new abbilties and skills and stuff like that... and offcourse new feutures, like the housing and guild housing which are very much requested currently

I asume the Night mother is strictly related to the dark brotherhoods skilltree...  or can i put it down as divine powers... where she would accompany the 9, Daedra worshipping.... and the praying

You stated guildhouses with player run shops... which i will put up as guildhouses (with a reason to go there)

The reason i say it is because lately it feels like we have been getting empty mmos with the promise of expansion content that will fill the empty world. We should be getting a finished game with the promise of expansion content that will actually expands beyond what is there. Not talking specifically about TESO here since it wouldnt be fair for a game that isnt out.

    1. more meaningful AvA skills that can only be earned/spent by doing AvA (like Daoc realm points)

    2. more skills and skill points in general

    3. a mentoring system or better ways for players of different levels to group up and earn experience and loot together.

    4. more pve content, dungeons and open up new areas to explore.

    5. bacon

as far as housing goes, i don't think it really fits well with how the megaserver is set up.

where is your house gonna be? in what instance? or is it just gonna be set up like EQ2's housing?

not sure how i feel about that but it doesn't sound very good to me either way.

I dunno how you read your "translation" into that person's post.  Like 95% of content in today's games is designed for solo players.  Asking that some more is designed for groups doesn't have anything to do with "i don't like other people's playstyle".

The person that sees the MOST content will always be the person that participates in everything.  For example, if i choose not to PvP, the fact is that i will miss out on seeing PvP content.  It's not because PvP'ers don't like my playstyle, it's because i choose not to participate in something that's available to me.

Have you played ESO?  How many quests did you do that were designed for a group?  And how many for solo?  I'd be SHOCKED if the ratio isn't something like 1 to 10 (if not 1 to 100).     There is tons and tons of stuff designed for the solo playstyle.  Why is it wrong to ask that some stuff be designed for players that like grouping (or that like PvP or that like Raiding or Crafting or whatever.)

All I want to see is:

    1. non-instanced Player Housing
    2. An Alternate Advancement system.  Would prefer something akin to the Augmentation and Luminance system of Asheron's Call.

Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!

Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!

95% of that content is all leveling up.  Sadly nearly 0% of all endgame activities support solo play and this is what the OP meant.

Chat bubbles? really? Do people actually really like chat bubbles? Has anyone ever played a crowded game with chat bubbles?

I'd say Player Housing, Guild Housing, To go with both those, so sort of building/construction set w/craftable building materials, political system complete with guild-run alliances, selection of political style, Alliance in-fighting, etc., etc.
