Personally I think the new expansion may save EQ2.. I remember begging for months that SOE put Good vs Evil pvp into the game..Finally SOE is listening to the fanbase and implementing this with their new expansion due out next month.. I quit eq2 when I hit level 30..The grind is just to much to bare..35 seconds for a group to kill a bumbblebee is not my idea of "fun"
If any of u never tried or heard of DAOC,give it a try.It may satisfy you long enough before Vanguard,The Chronicle,or AoC goes live..

That was an issue in May. Since then all sever populations have gone up, hell they have added 4 new servers.
Last night there were 6 servers on heavy/full, i was amazed, didnt see that number since launch. CLearly the playerbase is comming back, not to mention a bunch of people from WoW and SWG.
Anyway this reminded me of the launch day when all the servers crashed from the amount of people trying to get on lol good times

Smoke some more hash. A new york times article just a couple of months back estimated EQ2 subscribership at 450-500k, and I would be very astonished to hear that number hasn't gone up as the populations of the servers seemed even higher around christmas.
None of that matters though as EQ2 is an awesome game and definitely better than WoW in every way except being able to play it on a crappy computer. And before you say that WoW is better because of it's millions of subscribers, Mcdonalds has more customers than T.G.I.Fridays, but that doesn't mean they make a better burger.
I would have to learn a new guy habits and he might not even be funny. Johny actually care for the players, he does many mistakes.
Features are what I am looking for a game, I doesn't care if Brad, Johny, Cindy, Bill KBE or whoever else is behind. The game is what I judge. Killing the messenger is not going to help, in fact I will frown even more and judge the game more, exactly like I did when Blizzard does a clean up without improving their game.
Removing a man and placing another has no meaning, it draw my attention however that maybe they lack real improvements and try to get my attention the wrong way. I just want a FUN game and the average gamer doesn't even know who run the company, nor does he care...only folks not playing the game enough go check such details.
In facts, I would hire all the original staff behind EQ and put a solo enforcer with a final VETO on everything! But I am canadian french, maybe I like Veto more for some reasons! Anyway, all they need is some folks with comon sense that would bring A VISION instead of THE VISION, we all know that THE vision is wrong.
A messenger I know get more attention for his game than a new messenger. Maybe I would have give SWG a bigger try if I knew the messenger, or understand some stuff which may have convince me to stick...but the guy who is talking is a "relatively new" messenger for me, so when he lost my interest, it was over with his message. I usually read Bill KBE, Johny, Brad or Cindy message all the way to the bottom NOW, the first time I see a message from any of those, I doesn't think I even read the full paragraph...I was like...BORING. Click click play play...now, I didn't change, but since it is someone I know a little and understand his structures, how he talks (or bullshit us if you are negative), he get more interest. Newcomers have a harder time. When Cryptic studio use Jack (the guy behind CoV), I doesn't always read his message, but when I see Stateman, I usually read more, a LOT more.
Using the same messenger is a wise move. See, if Johny, Brad, Cindy or Bill say anything, I MAY feel like answering them with a personal email, now they prolly never read it and just delete it, but you will never see me answering with a personal email to whoever is a new messenger I doesn't know. Johny mailbox is a proof he is an asset to SoE, he reaches the customers. Now if he does to many poor choices, you can make him more or less a front puppet, but he is SoE public figure now and changing would not be wise, marketing-wise.

You got to remember that the subscription numbers is based on active subscribers. If you have 100,000 people who've paid for a six month plan then decided not to play any longer, will still have their account active. I would be interested in seeing what the new subscription numbers would be now.
Im sure the eq2 subscription feature was determined a month after Desert of Flames was release. A few veteran players may have returned to play the new content and new customers may have decided to see whats eq2 is all about with the mass advertising SOE have done.
Have played: CoH, DDO EQ2, FFXI, L2, HZ, SoR, and WW2 online
Must I remind you all that Mr. John Smeldey founded Sony Online Entertainment. He started it all. He wouldnt want his own division to fail. You all assume that SOE doesnt listen, but, they do.
Look past what everyone says, and analize it. SOE listens.
And, weather you like it or not, SOE does shell out more updates and expansions and content than any other MMORPG company anywhere, ever.
EQ2 is much improved on its first release but still it needs a bit more work put into it particularly level 30+. Still never managed to play for more than one month without getting bored but drop by once or twice a year.

Right. . Maybe when you wake up and smell the bull. A bunch of people from SWG? What all 3 of em, they would count under 800K anyway since they would likely have a station pass. I call bull on that NY times figure, they would've opened more than 4 new servers..
Yeah seriously, WoW sucks. I played it for 3 months and quit. It is WAY too easy and the community is made up of 11 years olds that can't fucking spell and yell NOOB! over and over again.
And back on topic, I don't think it matters if they fired him, from what I'm hearing NGE was a LA idea. So, I dunno.
Originally posted by anarchyart Originally posted by Hashman I call bull on that NY times figure...Of course you do, because you don't like EQ2. Go play the sucktastic WoW, that should keep you busy for at least a few months.
You assume because I don't like EQ2 I play WoW, weird logic. Tried WoW, was in a BWL raiding guild for 10 months, and EQ2 for 5 months (heck I had 2accounts), mostly a crafter. WoW community childish unless you join an adult guild like I did, EQ2 community, like you analart, arrogant and defensive. You evaded my question about daoc, wander why!
The only way I could join EQ2 (or any other MMORPG) is if i had won a lottery and quit my job... although if that would happen, id probably spend all my free time partying and on hookers... damn, i guess this is the end of MMOs for me. I think im gonna stick with CIV4 and CS for now.
Regarding other comments... WoW is a more popular game with much higher population, is it better? those people think so. So you gotta ask yourself a question, if you have 2 products of the same class, and one product has 5 to 10 times more people using it, is it better then the other product? Id say yes, it fits all those people better then the other product. I think WoW is a better game (IMO) but I still like EQ2 to the point where Id pay to play it, if only I had enough free time. If i had free time and lots of money, id play WoW, EQ2 and PS those are my fav games...
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

Hehehe, I cnta sepll eihre u NOOB.

The only things I would change about EQ2 is get rid of the archtypes and put in PvP. And they are doing both those things. Other than that their isn't anything I don't like about EQ2.
I'm considering giving it another shot... someone please talk me down from the ledge....
Avid WoW player but i miss crafting /sigh
I don't miss xp debt, running across Antonica for the 85th time because I have to sell my first born to afford a mount, or the anal jerks that craft and that humiliate you if you ask questions... but i miss crafting my little decorated apartment and my pets... as well as seeing new parts of the game.
This will be the 4th time I renew if I choose to. I so wanna believe!
JUMP RINNA JUMP, its a very soft landing. But seriously xp debt is really small and no more corpse runs, and you will be able to craft till 70, if you want. This is one game that just seems to get better with age. If it would have opened the way it is now nobody would have bothered leaving to try other things escpecialy with the pvp server coming.
In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.

Wait,u just said pvp server? I thought all servers will be PVP pitting good vs evil. Don't tell me it will only be on "certain servers" If thats the case, everyone would leave their current server and head over to the pvp ones.. Please tell me pvp will be on all servers..
