EverQuest II: Desert of Flames was named the MMORPG.com Best Expansion pack of 2005. Rob Hinman took some time to review the expansion in this new review.
Undoubtedly, EQII can be declared as a very graphically intensive MMO. You need a fairly up to date graphics card to get a very good idea what EQII can dish out. The details in the armor and weapons are sometimes very intricate while other items are somewhat lacking detail.
Desert of Flames is no different. The desert landscape is rich in wildlife, monsters, and dangerous factions. As you run across the sand dunes you can almost feel the hot sun pressing down on you. If you have the right video card, you can even see a heat shimmering effect as the sun bakes many of the ancient structures. |

I thought this was a very good and objective review. I have really enjoyed DoF. As to pvp, there will be pvp servers come February 21st with the new expansion Kingdom of Sky.
Ya good review sounds like alot of fun. Im not 45 yet because Ive only had the game a short while but I cant wait to give it a try. And I have to admit the music is probably the best Ive ever had in an MMO the only one I may have enjoyed the same if not more was the Original UO music. They has some pretty cool songs.
WHAT?!?!?! Are you Kidding me?!?! take out the word "free" there.

DoF is very beautiful and has many fun quests. I will say though that a lot of content was missing at release, and not all of it is in game yet. Most of the adventure issues have finally been fixed, however tradeskill classes still lack tier 6 writs and carpenters do not have thier tier 6 rares. With typical SOE customer service, the only that's been said is a moderator telling the forums that if they haven't commented on an issue that means it's being worked on, please stop posting on the subject...
Unfortunately, for anyone lower than 45 cannot expierence any fun in tihs expansion pack. I am a level 33 shadow knight and just today tried to explore the area. I did a fairly good job, but I had to make sure to stay away from every mob. Maybe they will come out with a nother expansion for lower levels or people that don't grind every day and night to be the best in the game.
Even though I'm not a hard core gamer, I'd like to have a bit of fun, too.

Lol, good laugh here too !
Hey Dana, quit the reviewing, and be an humorist

I quit EQ2 just before DoF so I can not say wether or not this review is accurate on that part or not.
On the parts I can comment Id say the rewiever is pretty close to the truth, with one exception.
This is speaking from personal experience only but I found the customer service to be top notch.
The 2 times I needed it I got help almost ASAP, first time was merely a question but the second I ran into some big problems, I got my character blackholed.
This means he was dead in limbo and I could not log in with him.
I got the first reply within 1 hour and it was quickly apparent that person could not help me at all so the then server GM for runnyeye had to take care of it, he contacted me within 2 hours.
And the issue was not an easy one to solve, first to get me out of limbo, without to much harm to myself, wich was then done by rolling back my character 2 days, ( this was the absolute last resort ).
All in all I had the undivided attention of not only the GM but troubleshooters at SOE as well for a long time, I really felt they went out of their way to help me.
Just me though and not everyone gets this treatment I assume, but I was very pleased with how they solved a pretty big problem.

Excellent reveiw, the most informative I have read about the expansion pack and the current state of the game.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

I don't mean any disrespect, but i call that really horrible customer service.
The first time it took them 3 hours to help you, and the second time your character was set back 2 entire days?
That is just terrible.
The fact that you got help however is something not many people can claim with SOE costumer service.
Eve online response time with stuck characters is 15 minutes and your character is simply teleported to the last station you docked in.
Agent mission problems? 20 minutes response time.
"other" petitions that are not "game crippling" take up to 2 days however.
(this mostly involves reimbursements of items that you lost and you claim was due to a bug).
