Solo friendly?

Is this game really friendly to players who would like to solo?  Can I play the whole game without being in a group if I choose to?  Are there repeatable solo quests, like I have to kill X number of monsters to gain experience?

If there is a quest that requires me to be in a group, how easy is it for me to join one.  Like could I get a group with in five or ten minutes after I log in?

Ive played eq2 for a year and I found problems with group quests.  The number one problem is being able to get into a group or forming a group to do your quest.  For me it could take hours of waiting around to get into a quest.  I dont want to play a game where all I do is spend that kind of time just waiting around for a group.

thanks

Have played: CoH, DDO EQ2, FFXI, L2, HZ, SoR, and WW2 online

This game is very solo friendly. You'll be able to most of the game just alone. Some of the Cooperative mission will require you to group with other people. In fact, in this game you'll be able to get henchmen with you (a healer, fighter etc) to help you on your adventures instead of real players. The ai is ok (not great but ok). The interface could be a bit better (orders, formation etc not present) but well, just a wishlist.
Keep in mind that Guildwars is an all instenced game and different than a real mmorpg. But it's very fun if you're a casual player (pass your way if you're a hardcore/no life player). If you like pvp it's a must buy.
Sorry cant compare with the games you played, did not play any of those (lol) but eq1, daoc and few others.

It is. Except the monsters really with the quote "United we stand",because in a large group they can take you down when your solo.

"The one who begins with nothing, gains everything slowly."

Probably the most solo friendly game their is... that wasn't design purely around solo play.
Grabing henchmen and just playing on your own you can complete probably 95% of the game. Not that it will always be easy... but it can be done. Probably 70-80% or the game can easily be done solo, if you know what your suppose to do.

thank you for all the replies.

There is no real best class or Primary prof./second perf. Really does depend on play style.

Some say "Paladin" is effective soloer, which is Warrior primary, monk secondary. Entirely your choice, just experiment with different skills/professions and have fun ::::28::

I doesn't matter much what class you are... for two main reasons

You can bring henchman (of any the classes to fill gaps)
You can change your secondary profession later in the game. (You could change from warrior/necro to Warrior/whatever)

So if you going to use a full group of hechmen it won't matter much.
If you mean to solo-solo as in not bringing and friendly NPC - to farm or such then a warrior or monk build is probably easiest.
