5 Things I DON'T want to see in my next MMORPG.

    1.  Classes or builds that kill at the same pace and have in general the same combat feel as every other class/build in the game.  Give me squishy one-hit critters, tanky plodders, clever pet classes, and crazy kiters.  And give me the ability to twink and fiddle with this or that, and most of all, give me real variety.  And I don't care if that makes balancing for PvP difficult.  I sure don't care if it makes it hard to estimate and control how many minutes it takes a given player to get from  level 1 to level cap.

    2.  Don't make me quest to level.  Glad I'm not the only one who wants more choices.  Let me craft, PvP, or just wander around grinding mobs if I feel like it.

    3.  Homelessness.  I hate it when a hero has 40 bazillion gold and still has to sleep under a bridge.  I want to build and decorate when I'm not roaming around slaughtering things.  I also like to make food to eat, craft (growing things would be great, too), and customize my clothing colors.

    4.  Non-consensual PvP.  I'm not interested in being some ganker's content.

    5.  Forced grouping (Guild Wars 2 style open world is fine though).  I mostly play solo, and I've never stuck for long with any game that forced me to group when I didn't feel like it.  And if devs expect me to PvP, they won't put premades against solo joins.   That never ends well.

I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

    1) PvP

    2) Leveling

    3) My Input Doesn't Count

    4) Trolls

    5) Gold Sellers / Harsher Game For Real Player In Attempts To Discourage Gold Selling Which Is Even More Annoying Than Gold Sellers

    Amen

Though I don't think those things are for the role players. If anyting they probably fly in the face of most role players' stories, especially when they are making stories that fit into the world.

Clearly talking about the charr and quaggan back packs in GW2. Honestly i use one in my RP BUT i did not buy it i got it from a lions chest that i happend to get a key from finishing queensdale. Though i can agree RPers usually do not use those items. if anything maybe the backpacks but that's really it. Armor skins/backpacks and pirate outfit are the only things i see.

Agreed.  I'd rather pay a sub and/or buy pricey expansions than play free because someone with more money than sense keeps opening their wallet.

    1. Instancing

    2. LFD/LFR

    3. F2P / Cash Shops

    4. Quick Travel / Flying Mounts

    5. Insignificant to no death penalties

Basically its time for MMORPGs to go back to their roots and re-modernize from there and stop copying WoWs easy mode method which has almost destroyed this genre.

Take Everquest 1 as your base, then modernize certain aspects but do not break the fundamentals.

This would be #6 for me if I could add another. I absolutely can't stand cutesy non theme items like this. If the game does have to have to this absolutely horrid crap, at least give real players the option to turn all "cutesy" cash grab skins off. TERA is the primary offender here (Turtle shell backpacks? Bathing Suits? Demon Wings? REALLY?), with GW2 also coming in second (hate those stupid flapping holographic wings everyone and their mother runs around with, it looks terrible, and there is no way to turn them off!)

#7 would be gold/cash conversion system like GW2, makes the game very P2W and ruins the economy quite quickly. The only way to even remotely get enough money in GW2 now is to buy gems and convert to gold. One of the many reasons I only play WvW occasionally till AvA is out. Being able to buy a legendary or final tier gear with cash is horrendous, GW2 is a very big offender here.

    Currently Playing: ESO and FFXIV
    Have played: You name it
If you mention rose tinted glasses, you better be referring to Mitch Hedberg.

    1. skipping healers (gw2 style)

    2. heavy instanced world

    3. boring crafting

    4. in game, outgame whatever stores

    5. nonadictive gameplay (like every mmo released in the last 6 years)

If i could add to my list 2 more : phasing and mega servers (like teso did megaserver) - no server community at all(and no,guilds are not enough to replace that,if you want guild community only why not play a multiplayer game ?) and between medium questing with open world and great questing with phasing, I prefer open world. Questing quality is bad in mmos anyway when compared with single player games. No matter how good the quest is, when you are in a dungeon with 20 or more players running around you like locusts any immersion from it goes away.
