Twiddling Thumbs /what game to play between now and launch.

Long time lurker, SWG pre cu vet so been there seen it etc

So enjoying the usual pre launch forum wars, its the same no matter which game ive seen launched (mmo/single player etc dosnt seem to matter) seems people just need a place to argue lol

My issue is what to do with my time while waiting for launch im going standard digital dl for early access, taken the time of work too :) (got to lvl 13, 8 and 3 during the beta, tried the pvp but too laggy from europe, also a crafter and will not be in a rush to end game)

But my issue is what to do in the meen time, i tried skyrim (too pretty and just wasnt stratching what i needed ) , re download Runes of magic ( something i played a while a go for an mmo fix, BIG mistake, empty and the whole ares been leveled up since i stopped, thos was nice having a look through my inv), Far cry 3 (good but apart from the bow, wasnt doing it either), so searching through origin and steam mass effect no dead space no fallout no , wow no lotro no swtor no, sim city (loaded new one but no) and then i hit it right Dragon Age 2 , wasnt convinced at first created my dual wield usual char, i all ways play same char in any game so can get the look close fast each time, played through the opening etc and im now gonna treat this as an extended prolouge for my char using this play through to use the dialouge to work out how i wan my character to be, i know its a rival etc and different lore but sword and spells never the less, and the visual aspect is closer to ESO than Skyrim or Oblivion as a 3rd person player mostly for RPg's and thats as very long term FPS shooter player. (YMMV)

So what else are those who are also waiting for ESO to launch playing and is it dulling the pain?

im reading an learning from the forums as info gets passed about but its hurting so much, hyped yes, fan boi no.

    I'm playing GW2, WvW mostly.

If it's not broken, you are not innovating.

I wish I had the answer.  But my ESO Client is all patched up!  Nearly 3gigs of patches all said and done for the new version.  Can't wait to test out all the changes!

But yeah.. What to do until then.  I even almost bought FFXIV when it was half off on Steam.. Almost.  0.o  ... yeah it's that bad.  Pretty much bouncing between here, the official unofficial forums and Tamriel's Foundry .. My other free time I try to burn with bad movies.

    *shrug*

The closest I've come to satisfaction since I caught the ESO bug was rolling up a fresh game of Morrowind.  Which would no doubt have worked if I hadn't played that poor game to death.  I dunno.. now I feel like playing it again.  It just feels so... lonely in Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim now.  =)

This sounds a lot like me.

I've kind of burnt out on GW2, though I was playing pretty much all the time for the past 3 months. Seems like my whole server has given up on WvW.

Been playing new new Diablo 3 loot 2.0 patch. It was pretty fun and addictive for a few days, but getting tired of doing the same thing over and over. I will look forward to Adventure Mode for that. Just played a bit of War Thunder. That's pretty good for a fun pvp fix. Not really feeling like much of anything. I just want to roll up my toons for ESO for real and get started.

I'm not really sure what else to do. I tried Civ V but played that  lot, too. I'm thinking about Dragon Age (the first one, which I haven't played) since OP mentioned DA2.

Im in the same boat every day. All I want to do is play ESO :(

I've been collecting games on steam sales for the past few years, I've been trying them out and playing a few of my all time favorites. Watching movies, doing work around the house preparing for the time when I won't be doing anything but playing ESO for 7 days straight.

My wife and I are taking vacation time from March 30th.

I did try even loaded up a load of mods for visuals and installed ENB filters, but just couldnt get into it , think a previous poster nailed it with its empty and lonely without the hustle and bustle, that just increases the pangs of want :)

    edit , spelling

The only game that is holding me until ESO is Minecraft.

Try Neverwinter. You'll only be playing it for a couple of weeks so there's no need to spend any money on it.

You just may come away with the impression that it's UI is at least as good as ESO, if not better. And you may end up with the same thoughts for the combat mechanics in the game.

As I said, avoid any money aspects of it as it's ftp model can be a wallet buster. But if you're just looking to play for a couple of weeks there's quite a few zones, skirmishes and dungeons to have a go at. A couple of good story lines and some really good player created Foundry instances.

Also playing D3 with loot 2.0. Its actually very fun now. Infamous 2nd Son on the 21st will take me through that difficult final week before early release!

Dark Souls 2 is out next week. I figure the abuse there should make dealing with early ESO a cakewalk by comparison!

Tempting, but with the looming outlay for ESO when i get paid, that will have to wait for a steam sale further down the line.

Diablo 3 is holding me over until then. The new patch has just made major expansion pack changes to the game and it's great!

    - Funny how most of the gun crime is in the south then - that's obviously a sign of pregress.

Going back to FFXII & FFIX here (been a few years, figured it might feel fresh again). Might log into GW2 here and there, but I'm so tired of the zerg PVE, neglected Spvp, and the superior arrow carts + golems in WvW.

Same. They really have improved it big time to get ready for the expansion, Love the feel of "hard mode" and all the loot that is one hell of a lot more specific to the class you're playing and much better quality.

How about you just exercise to drop a few pounds to make room for the weight youre gonna put on while sitting forever at ESO?

I'm playing some red dead redemption which I've never had the pleasure to try before.

I'm sure there will be 1 thing on there I can practice that would be useful for ESO... maybe.

Like many of you I received the survey last night and promptly filled it out and submitted it and his morning the patcher is updating so I am hopeful that later today another set of emails for a beta weekend will go out, if not for this weekend, perhaps the next weekend.

Otherwise I'm just doing GW2 dailies and Living Story (minimum req).

Playing: varies every day it seems.
