Im reading up on the game and checking out all of videos and screen shots but im having a hard time figuring out what type of game RF is? Is there any other online game that it could be compared to? Is it an actually MMORPG with character leveling and development? Can you craft, is there an economy? Or is it just like a RPG planetside?
Any kind of description would be appreciated! Thanks!

There are skills you need to level, also xp for plain levelling which is not the most important part of the game. You can get yourself stuck if you level the wrong way (powerlvling). It's comparable to any other click&slash game afaik . You will have RvRvR combat, no PvP between your own race. The world is rendered like Lineage2, except I think the mines are instanced, but I'm not sure of that.
That and of course it's like an anime/mecha game of course

So is there a level type system, like 1-50? Also is the combat realtime, more like a FPS with aiming and all that, or do you select a target and use your hotkeys to perform attacks?
Is there any non-combat professions to choose also?
Thanks for the replies!
All of you are wrong....
RF = Lineage 3

From the vague responses and lack of, it seems like no one is really sure what type of game this is, I didnt even get a fanboi's response? From what I have seen it just seems like a glorified RPG planetside, with factions holding control points (mines)? I'm just curious as to how much role-playing there really is and if there is an economy complete with player crafting? Has anyone played beta yet? Anyone excited about the game and full of information?
one thing that comes to my mind when i read alot about RFO, it's not like WoW, since most of the new coming MMORPGs have the same style.
it has a skill system which resambles wow, you hit/get hit you increase a certain skill, you use that skill often you do better in it, but the skilling system which is called PT does HEAVILY effect your character, basicly if you get plvled without skilling up your PT, you are simply gimped.
as for lineage, i never played this game, but RFO does have a large scale PVP zone called the mines or whatever, every 8 hours that area opens, and for 3 hours all 3 races fight each others and they have to destroy something in that area, whoever does the last hit ( sadly not the most dmg ) wins, and get to mine for ores and minirals to sell them or craft with them ( like wow too but it's after the battle and not scattered mines and herbs ) .
it also has the normal PVP where ppl fight each others outside that mine zone, it has a good classing system, sub-classing too, it has it's advantages and disadvantages, but overall the game looks great, and since it's a UK based, i expect it to have a good community.
basicly it's a mix of wow and lineage, from what i read and see, it has quests here and there, unlike wow where you only lvl up on quests, RFO is a grind based game, almost like DAOC.
Well My question is if the Beta is not out yet... How the heck did anyone actually get to play it to give any kind of info on it? I have been scowering the Net in order to check this out and all Ive found is clips, screen shots and such. I applied to the beta and Plan on pre-ordering this game when its available in the states (because it just looks Amazing). But how is it some people have had tohe chance to play?
The last hit takes the reward is kind of lame yes and i hope CM will do something about it, but this thing only applies to quest mobs and the chip you need to destroy to win the mine war ( Chip Wars ).
spawnlod : RFO has been going for a long time now, started in korea then spread to china and philippine, i've tried playing the pRFO but they blocked all foreign IPs
and that's where ppl got their info from, also the CM closed beta that's currently running :}
Also with regard to economy, the economy is per server differentiates between teh races and is dependent on the mine wars won, the amount of trade going on through NPC characters, plus the amount of gols circulating through teh race. Each faction has it's own currency but gold is a generic currency usable by all and again can be traded for on a type of stock market NPC. Using the tax % rate to either make or lose money.
PvP ior RvR is also an integral part of the game as mentioned above in the chip/mine wars. Again players can be ranked as tehy gain contribution pioints to their faction which can eventually lead to a top number of players becoming race leaders. These guys/gals can globally talk to the entire race and set strategies for other wars, plus declare allegiances with other races (in case there is some inbalance in the fighting)
The PvE side of things is pretty normal, monster killing, big boss raids which is all part of the questing system.
Oh and a big seller to me is teh unique weapon/s each race has, from the summons to the mechs and of course teh launcher siege cannons. These high end weapons are impressive and I look forward to planting my ICBM's on some cora cute yet firm butt.
Ok seriously I have not played the game or anything, but I also do not think it is a Lineage I copy. I mean Lineage II has a really good story, but it is mostly in teh past and stuff, while RF Online is more of the future and all. Crazy things can happen in the future!!!
First of all: you still can play in Beta right now. The one that goes in China. For more information go here: http://rfbase.com/modules/ipboard/index.php?showforum=4 and read how to register and where to get a Client. But be ready to face Chinese abbra-cadabbra.
Secondly: RF is not a big successful step over all other games nowadays. It has no godly Free PvP as was in ShadowBane. You can't loot players you've killed. There is no Death penalties. So PvP just loses its meaning. It has no great craft as is in SWG/EQ2. It has no great variaty of items. It has no destructable world, where you can affect things that are going around you.
What do you expect from that another clone game?
well my friend first : don't think that all of the people are just like you, because you are like this, you don't have the right to tell people to be like you.
ppl have different tastes and styles of everything, i had a big arguement with my RL friends about this matter, one sees life his way, likes some games, and he thinks that everyone else is the same.
personally i like the game, much much better than wow BECAUSE :
1- the pvp happens on a daily basis 3 times a day, you can also pvp outside of that area which gives more pvp options, also i don't have to wait in a friggin queue.
2- pve as far as i see it is not that bad at all, but not great either, so it's balanced, since the game focuses on PVP mostly.
3- items, well the least the better, i don't want to run off looking for raids of 40 or 200 ppl to do a raid and have a 1% chance or maybe less to win something, i mean come on, everyone wants to get uber, why not just make it that ppl spend sometime and effort to get what they want, or they can simply buy it just like eve, everything is on the market, i don't have to collect 100 guys to get an item i want.
just wanted to point the obvious, good luck to everyone with their games :}
