Solution to all the Problems is to make it seem like your not waiting while your actually waiting thats what i would do in my Game. How u do it depends on the circumstances.
If you get everything for free and always and instantly what do u play a game for ? Whats your reason to start playing a game ?
Fun?
Waiting is not fun. Waiting is a waste of time. And "free" and "not waiting" are not the same thing. You still have to kill the spawn to "earn" your whatever.
But how long is a game "fun"? Anything fun today will be boring in a few months if you keep doing it won't it? Working towards a goal is what keeps me playing a game for a long time and is what makes them "fun" to me. If I get things immediately with no challenge or effort put into it then that becomes not fun very fast. Even if it was fun the first few times.
So how is making people wait for a spawn going to change that?
Why not implement a "can only do one quest per hour" limit so this way it takes you 3 years to do 3 months worth of content so your problem is solved? Either way, your problem is not my problem. If you want spawns to take longer choose to not kill it the second it shows up, pretend it isn't there so those of us that don't want to be bored to tears can have fun also.
Yes, lets remove everything that makes MMO's what they are. MMO where every Node, chest, house, tree is its own instance you can enter. If you dont feel like waiting for a respawn go do something else, its a huge game full of stuff to do wtf.

It is actually good in my opinion that spawn locations are probably random and that you cant always get what you want.
If you dont get always what you want right now these nodes and treasures are actually a reward for exploring the area. If there are currently no ressources to gather than just go on with questing or explore more.
Honestly, I cant follow that this bother some. It would be boring if nodes & treasures would be always available right when you want it.

That's not what he's saying. If you look at what my suggestions were from page two, which the OP was in complete agreement with, is about slightly tweaking some of the systems. Not completely removing things that make an MMO an MMO.
I've yet to see the quest objective in the game that vanished when one player picked it up and who the fuck stands around and waits for a node or chest?
In Skyrim you cant get ores always when you want, you have to wait a very long time ( some weeks ingame time !! ) until you can gather ressources again from the same location. Nobody waits for respawn...

That's what mods are for. Or, the Y button. Wait 24 hours which goes by in a few seconds, press again and repeat until its back.

If i install mods they should challange the gameplay more and not change it into easy mode. I would not want to play like this that you can get the ressources in some seconds again. But everyone has obviously different taste of gameplay.
Respawns. Waiting for nodes, chests, quest items etc. to respawn - I thought we were done with waiting in lines. Just seems like an oudated mechanic to me...
HOWEVER, there is the tiniest bit of a silver lining to it. Maybe people stop together to say a few words to each other while waiting. But then immediately hate each other and compete to click the damn respawn.
I suppose that they should remove all of the other people from the game and just have it so that only you are playing. Wait... that would be a single player game. I think you'd come out better just buying a single player game.
Originally posted by ElirionLoth People really want everything instanced so you can have instant access to everything? You're really describing a single player game. There would be no open world. Might as well just make it a lobby game where you get together only for grouped instances but have no one else in the open world otherwise.
Well this kind of thinking is actually one sided... cause if the world was truly common for everyone, the quest giver wouldn't give everyone the same quest with the same target... I know it's the classic MMO design here, but this design is instanced on the quest giver, and shared on the quest objective.

Some talk about Skyrim:

It's probably been mentioned already but it's like this for a reason. To create scarcity.
Without this the world would be flooded with mats.
It's a balancing act, if they give into every complaint made by people that are short sighted, it would ruin the game long term.

I'm glad this is getting attention. Quest Item camping-issues can and do lead to rage and quitting...

I don't mind that design though.
