looking for best sci-fi mmo

I am sooooo sick of fantasy mmo's so i'm looking for sci-fi must have characters not just ship combat so eve is out tried it didn't like it.

Must have a healthy population and not too old no not fallen earth either anything but that can be in beta.

    and thats basically all there is. Rest is to out of date or lacks scifi

    TSW isnt really sci-fi but its not fantasy either

    I agree with Drtack1, FireFall.  It has a very developed crafting system.  Gathering resources is done very uniquely.  It is sci-fi, but it is also a FPSMMO.  If any other good ones not listed come to mind, I'll edit my post.

    Vendetta Online is a nice sci-fi mmorpg, so there are others beside STO and SWTOR; a lot of others if you look long enough...

    I'm not saying it's the best choice for the OP; I understand he is looking for a humanoid avatar. However, the "only this" post bugged me.

    All there is? What about the best scifi game, which is also the best sandbox MMO of all time? Try EVE Online, it also have useless human avatars :D

    The Repopulation is out this year. Very sandboxy though. Not sure if that really does anything for you or not. If you're interested you can probably buy your way into a beta still.

    The Repopulation is not out yet, but it is a sci-fi setting. Besides building the sandbox game, the devs and contributors are working hard at creating lore and stories to add the level of detail required for science fiction.
