Star Wars: The Old Republic: The Quesh Huttball Pit Previewed

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

The latest developer blog has been published on the Star Wars: The Old Republic site. This time, the team takes a look at the forthcoming Quest Huttball Pit that will arrive with Update 2.7 but that can also be played on the PTS currently. The blog details the differences between Quesh's version and the original, rectangular pit.

Where the original Huttball Pit was setup in a rectangle with the end zones at each of the longer ends, the Quesh Pit is setup more as an upside down pyramid with the Huttball stand at the apex and the end zones at the base. This makes the fight much more hectic as the Huttball gets closer to the end zones and may mean if you pick the wrong time to move the Huttball up the platforms you will be bringing the objective closer to your opponent’s end zone! Brutal!

Huttball was actually a pretty fun form of PvP.

In general it pissed people off tremendously when they first tried it, however, most PvPers who realise teamwork is more important than personal fame had a lot of fun in this map imo.

Still, it also unbelievably pissed me off for that same reason. I've seen some of the worst fails ever in this map (like people carrying the huttball to their own line).

huttball is so far the best pvp battleground I've ever experienced in a MMO. Battlegrounds should have environmental threats that can turn the tide of the game and a goal that promotes teamwork ( getting the ball, passing it and scoring) .

People that hate huttball usually suck at it, thats the simple truth. It's a great battleground and only releasing a 2nd map for it 2+ years after launch just shows how Bioware is sleeping on the job.

Oh gods. This needs another huttball like an extra hole in the arse. Probably worst instanced pvp in existence of anything.

Man, I can't believe people are actually trying to mock SWTOR's pvp gameplay. It's freaking awesome. Fast-paced and incredibly skill-based. At least that's what I've gathered. You get your stats boosted to become competitive, while of course having the best gear will give you that extra edge.... And the maps are interactive and based on team strategy instead of just mindless killing like in WOW where stats depict everything.

You guys are unbelievable! A new Huttball match has been asked for on the forums for a while now. And exactly now when they're trying to listen to the players you guys say "Oh great... Another huttball match." It's for free! Why on gods earth are you crying for free stuff?

Some of you MMORPG.com people amaze me. You really do!

I've had some incredibly awesome moments in hutt ball back in the first few months this game was launched. It was a very fun game mode. Liked it a lot better than the ship infiltration one. It formed an intense rivalry between Republic and Imperials on my server, even with people on the same faction even. It was a tight nit PVP community.

Sadly F2P has ruined that community and this game for me. I cannot get back into it. Not even galactic star fighter was good enough to draw my attention for more than a day.

This I can respect. Because everyone is entitled to their opinion and can choose not to play a game if they feel like its lost their charm or initial feeling. I totally understand you, Azure, and the game has definitely changed. For me, it has been for the better.

From the early beginning of the game it was a success but slowly was depleting in numbers and was definitely not growing. Now, however, with the f2p option more people are booming in and it is a refreshing feeling knowing that the gaming is continuously expanding. And for the first time. I'm actually looking forward to the future.

I hear there's rumours about player Housing coming, too! But I digress. I wholly agree with you about the game being changed and the F2P package sure has major flaws that I do not agree with it. But overall, I'm excited for SWTOR!
