More weapons?

kayze68kayze68 Member Posts: 34

Are they planning to add more weapons to each class? Having only one style of weapon locked to each class seems really underwhelming. It feels like there are no point to weapons at all and is purely cosmetic, because none of the skill will even affect the weapon. What's the point of having weapons in the first place when it's like this? Can't I go around with bare fist and still cast the skills?

It just feels really badly designed when there is only one type of weapon throughout the enormous of hours you will play on your character. Anyone know if they will be adding more weapons to the game?

for the range classes ( esper mostly ) they're pretty useless.

i dont think they're are going to add more, just make them look better/different then the others.

Yes weapons are cosmetic. The purpose is to show opposing players visually what kind of class you are. You can also change how your weapon looks, but you cant hide it.

What do you mean "you can also change how your weapon looks, but you can't hide it?" I'm failing to understand.

Weapons shouldn't be purely cosmetic, that's the thing. It's your weapon, it's what you are striking your enemy with. Right now, there would be no difference if they had Stalker with Resonator or Medic with claws, the skill you use is still the same.  Be it with sword or an axe, it offers player more choices. Having being in a Sci-fi MMO, do you really see only having FOUR weapons throughout the galaxy?

Edit: I mean SWTOR even added ancient swords despite lightsaber was used throughout every movie, imo.

If you don't have a weapon equipped you can't use skills that would need that weapon (Esper psiblade attacks get locked out for instance) but other skills are still useable. The gadgets and secondary weapons add variety to animations. Also if you pick the Soldier path you get to try out experimental weapons.

In most games different weapon types are just cosmetic. ESO uses it as a shallow multiclassing gimmick. GW2 did a neat job with weapons but its hardly the norm.

Personally I'm just glad the game has great animations, interesting skills and build creation.

Well what I mean is that the weapon is an item slot like any other on your character (chest, shoulders etc). You get new items to raise the stats of that slot to boost your character. However in Wildstar as is each class has a unique weapon which is always visible on the character. You can change how the weapon looks through the costume system, but a sword will always be a sword etc.

In other games you can have swords and axes and hammers etc, but they all have the same stats. What changes is weapon damage type. So a sword is slashing, a hammer is bludgeon etc. That mechanic doesnt exist in Wildstar since its all ability/spell based. So look at mages in WoW for example. It doesnt matter if they have a wand or a dagger or a sword. Thats purely cosmetic as all the stats are the same. All damage is based off of the actual spells the player casts.

Which part, the "weapons always visible" or "can be changed via costume" ? Because both will be true for launch. How it is or isnt right now in beta is irrelevant, hence NDA. What will be for launch is all that matters.

You cant say something that "will be in the future" is factual. Lmao.

They have said nothing specific about the launch parameters of Weapon cosmetics to my knowledge.

All will be revealed When its launched and people can see whats in and whats not. I still stand by my statements however.

"You can teleport to the moon, the technology is just not invented yet" is not factual or relevant statement.

What are you talking about? Teleporting technology is useable in WildStar and the moons of Nexus are available for exploration!
